There is something not quite right about a serial-shopper-returner like you. You are a retailer's worst nightmare. What's a retailer supposed to do with the cameras you've returned?

The cameras you've returned have been rated highly by others, so it's you, not the camera which is at fault.
I have a friend who buys a camera, keeps it about 3-4 weeks and sells at a loss. He then purchases another one, finds something wrong with it and sells it and starts the process all over.

Over the last 2 years, he has probably lost about $2,000 in buy/sell deals.

He will never be happy with any camera.

Several pro reviewers use jpegs. Ken Rockwell does not use Raw.
You're calling Ken Notwell a pro reviewer? LOL!
Even Steve Huff sometimes gets on a jpeg run.

Or is it Kirk?

Sometimes a jpeg shows you quickly how much you could sharpen that RAW as a guide. Sometimes my X1 jpegs are just so with it and so perfect I say good enough.

Sometimes my raws when edited cannot match the jpeg
How can someone buy so many great cameras, and then shoot jpg exclusively?
What a lame statement that is . . .

There is absolutely nothing wrong with shooting JPEG's only.

Better cameras usually provide JPEG's that need no post processing . . .

Of course, if you don't know how to use your camera . . .

C'mon! Don't tell us these cameras aren't satisfactory; I doubt if you will be happy with any one or two or even three cameras.

As others have said repeatedly, you are abusing retailers' return/exchange priveliges. Assuming you are using credit cards, your purchasing history will likely soon catch up with you, and you'll be denied returns or exchanges except for defects.
Sounds to me like "...the Perfect is the Enemy of the Good-Enough!"
Geez...all any of these are is a tool!
Pick one and go out and take some pictures...

as long as the camera is set up properly and user knows how to use it

I think it is dumb to buy a camera without a little research and even dumbing to return it without really trying to master it. I think he just likes playing with new toys and has no real interest in photography.

When was the lst time you saw a buyer or leasr of an automobile take that 2000 page manual and read it?

I've never seen anybody, except whenthe light says "check engine"

There is nothing wrong in taking a camera, putting it on P and shooting.

People here expect me to "Master a camera"

I have never mastered anything

Neither have half the drivers in the world

Seems everybody here has to keep whatever bad camera was sold to them

A great friend of mine is very upset with her Pana GF2. I told her the GX1 of GF3 would suit her fine. Or the Olys. No she stuck to that camera she hates and now never uses a m4/3. By now if she had stuck with m4/3 she'd have 10 lenses. She is relegated to her mosntruous Canon 60 with huge lenses she looks like the wedding photographer when she goes out to dinner.

Hmm...

Do women dump you as fast as you dump cameras?

Not the same as buying and using a camera

No, I do that a lot

That's why it's good to research first. I don't think there are many bad cameras made today, just some that don't have everything you want.

blown highlights are not a fault of the camera, they are a fault of the person using the camera. And i read the manuals for everything i use. As a technician reading manuals is a hobby

good for you but people who read manuals are 1% of the world

Many famous reviewers here will often say things like "let's put it through the paces" or "I was worried about this or that"

lots of people are experimental as opporsed to theoretical analysts

Many say "on spec it looked great but when holding it..."

If you have the gift of reading specs and guessing right you are truly gifted, most are not

W O W !!!!

Here in Australia, a person who returned so often the camera's, would be brandend as "Un-Australian".
What do you mean - you can't return a camera in Australia just because you decide you don't like it. There has to be something wrong with it that prevents it being used for its intended purpose - and even then a lot of retailers will just tell you to take it up as a warranty matter with the distributors!

I don't know of any Camera retailers in Australia that have the return policy that most Americans seem to enjoy. If you do please tell us who they are.

That'll get you roasted and nitpicked for sure.

Actually, it's nice to see someone with no commercial influences putting all of these through their paces. Wish I had that sort of budget. Conclusions are, of course, subject to personal preferences and situations.

I don't tend to go over ISO1600, so M43 has suited me well in the compact department. Lens selection is excellent, and getting better. And the lenses are tiny, for what they can do.

Agree that you can usually spot a Leica shot, but for me it's not the colors, it's the sharp/soft rendering - razor sharp where it's sharp, buttery soft where it's soft, and a lovely falloff between the two. Sort of a 'dreamy' look, no one does it as well as Leica. When I hit the lottery, I'm flying to B&H to get an M9 and every freaking lens they have for it.

Never thought the Canon dslr's were particularly attractive either, but it's hard to argue with their killer telephotos. If Canon can ever get around to making a really good UWA, along the lines of the Nikkor 12-24 or ZD 7-14...

I found NEX frustrating as well. Elegant body design, until you put a lens on it.

Surprised to hear that about the D7000 - might want to recheck exposure mode. I've been watching D700 prices, but it's not cheap enough... yet...

My favorite 'inexpensive' Nikkor - an old MF 400 3.5 I picked up for a (relative) song. One stop down, it becomes very sharp, plus an excellent 2x TC that's also dirt cheap. Big whale of a lens, don't use it very often, but when you need it, there's no substitute.
