Since introduction of X100 many of you have asked me about developing aid to make handling X100 in more comfortable way. My capacities were overtaxed with the demand for other accessories.
Luckily, my friends at Lensmate have come up with the perfect solution:

Looks really well designed for those who have problems with their dials being turned by accident. Same functionally as the EP5S while being much more affordable too.

If I haven't gotten my thumbs up already, I'll definitely be getting this due to the price difference at least.

Thanks for sharing.

amazing!!! just got my x100 and was looking to add all the fun accessories.. after looking at the thumbsup! i was like there has to be a better alternative!

thanks for this!

just got my thumb rest!!! so after a long day at the amusement park with my family i found myself shooting with my finger accidentally changing the exposure a few stops every now and then, when i got home i was excited to see a package from lens mate!!! the rest is perfect fits like a glove... my only complaint is that they totally goofed my order and sent me a menu button instead of the 3" glass lcd protector....

otherwise very happy with my order will post pics once my case arrives!!

Sweet. Mine's on order too - even though I can't seem to have an issue with the exposure comp button after using it for over 1000 shots over Christmas... ;) I liked the price and the fact that it's built with the x100 in mind.

I received the thumb rest Christmas eve and it lives up to the hype! It installs without a hitch. Feels solid and I love that it helps prevent accidental movement of he exposure dial. Even with the Fuji leather case, the fit is tight but still works.

I also got the menu button mod which works extremely well and is well worth the $$.

Just received one today. It is my Xmas and B'day gift to myself. Its very functional. No more ev dial problems. Workmanship is excellent. Many thanks for the tip. Shipping from WA to NJ was only 4 days by USPS.

This product although useful has a major flaw. Once installed it is almost impossible to remove should you wish to use the flash shoe. Those of you who have purchased it and think it is so wonderful, try to remove it! It can not be recommended until redesigned for easier use for those of us who use an auxiliary flash .

Good point. It is somewhat difficult to remove unless the end is lifted over the black ev marker on the camera body while sliding the device out of the hotshoe. I had my kid hold the camera while I fussed with the device. Not an issue for me since I use the X100 flash commander mode and a variety of Nikon SB-xx flashes off camera in manual mode.

Hi LPS,

This is Susan at Lensmate, the X100 Thumbrest+ is very easy to install and remove.

Did you see our installation image on our website? (The URL is on the packaging.)

Just lift the right end slightly (less than 1mm) and slide it out of the hot shoe using the fingernail recess. Takes about a second or two.

This works for installation but this same technique does not work well for removal. Try it but be sure to make an appointment with your manicurist for a nail repair. You'll need one!

Richard,

Thanks for the info - I just ordered one - the + - wheel protector is brilliant!

Try getting a neoprene rubber faucet gasket ring in any hardware store pick one that will fit snugly around the bottom of the dial. I have been using this with Thumbs Up for the last 6 months no problems.

LPS,

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the thumb rest. Took me less than 20 seconds to figure it out and do it.

My trick was to place a finger under the right side of the thumb rest and apply upward pressure and slight pressure to the rear to unseat the thumb rest from the rubber piece that secures it. Once theirs is done, then you can slide the I out using a gentle back and forth motion toward the rear.

I hope that helps.
