hi, ppl!!! just to share with u guys. recently i have just seen some portable storage unit that uses a 2.5" HD and accepts the six common memory cards. Just plug ur cards in, press the load button and it will upload all the contents to its HD. it requires no PC intervention, except when u want to load them back in it. Well, its cheaper than those with LCDs to preview the pics and other special functions, which could cost twice as much.

Consider this neat device, it will be a cool christmas present to have...

Question for you then, Ulli (or any others tha have used it).

How does the X-Drive name files / dirs when it copies them over? Curious since the Fuji 602 puts everything in the Fuji100 dir, and labels everything the same? Does it make dirs based on date?

And will it move files, or only copy, so you hhave to manually delete them from the card?
Just curious.
Thanks.

According to the X-drive pdf manual, it named its dirs as "CF001,MS001,SM001,SD001" according to the memory cards. CF: Compact flash, MS: Memory stick & etc. More details can be found when u download the pdf file.

There have been many reports of lost files with the X-drive. This was traced down to cases when people had deleted files on the CF card in the camera. It appears that the x-drive dose not handle this properly. The manufacture was contacted and they so far simply say don’t do it. Tune in to the storage forum for more info on this problem.
