S45 at Ritz Camera

Hi Kris,

The two (MSN Wallet and pricematching) have nothing to do with each other. The Ritz reps have no way of knowing (they can always dig around and find out, but, if you call up and give them your order number and they pull up your order, they won't know) that you paid using MSN Wallet - they will only have the credit card information that you have stored in your MSN Wallet.

However, when you call the rep, if you volunteer the MSN Wallet information, they may try to use that as an excuse to avoid doing the pricematchin.

Read the earlier messages in this thread. One person (who lives in Atlanta) got the pricematch done and got the camera delivered the day after he ordered it.

Hope this helps.

-ThickAsABrick.
Could somebody give me the name of the sales rep who gave you the
pricematch after the msn wallet discount ? I have called 3 times
unsuccessfully, they tell me I cannot combine the offers.
Or if you could provide me with any other info. about your order
that I could use as leverage when I call them up.

BTW I live in Georgia.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks
Kris

This is not True. I recieved my camera days ago and still have not received any confirmation. I finally got a message from Ritz stating that they are have a problem with their "MSN Transmission Tool" on some orders. They are asking me to be patient, but the Holiday Rewards program expires in a few days, and if this problem is not resolved soon, I will lose the opportunity to get the MSN dollars elsewhere. I have ordered items through Circuit City and Office Max on three seperate occasions, and the MSN confirmation has arrived immediaitely and the process has been flawless. So, its not me and its not MSN. That leaves Ritz as the cause of the problem.

While I do not believe that Ritz is intentionally trying to screw me, the end result is that I am being screwed. And Ritz has not taken the appropriate steps to resolve the problem.

I ordered thru ritz website last night around 12 am, and used by
msn wallet and although i received an email confirmation from ritz
of purchase unfortunately i never got an confirmation from msn and
it never showed up as a qualitfying transaction on msn website.
even though when I placed the order I printed out receipts that
say i used my MSN wallet but I am not sure that information got
lost in their system.

I called ritz this morning and cancelled,

I am not sure what is going on with this promotion, seems like it
works sometimes and othertimes it doesn't it's a hassle and I won't
buy it unless i get msn dollars

Well, this thread would certainly have contributed to Ritz's sales of S45; on the flip side, every one (almost) that has been influenced by this thread would also have called for a price match...

-ThickAsABrick.
Whoever started this thread, should get paid something from Ritz
for all the great advertising they are getting on this. May be a
free CF Card or something more! Just my 2 cents!

PS: Of course, I agree, it seems to be a great deal on this S45
with the MSN dollars!

I'll bet if you get in your car and drive to the Ritz store that is located the farthest from your home they would give you your 35 cents (after they stopped laughing) :)
Not necessarily. After following this thread yesterday, I placed
my order through Ritz (was offered S45 for $511 and not the $510.65
others got ... oh well $.35 loss), and received within a few
minutes confirming email from MSN wallet for my $100.

Called Ritz - they said that MSN will have a record of it and to check with them - Ill will let you know when I hear back - or if!
While I do not believe that Ritz is intentionally trying to screw
me, the end result is that I am being screwed. And Ritz has not
taken the appropriate steps to resolve the problem.

Hate responding to my own messages, but, my previous post got mutilated. I had enclosed my post in "less_than_sign TongueInCheek greater_than_sign" tags, but, they never made it to the board... oh well...

Thanks to Thick, I followed the procedure, got the $510.65 price yesterday, got the MSN email confirm and Ritz emailed to say they were FedXing the camera to me-should have been here by now....Living in the DC area where Ritz is based, I know them to be honest and dependable. Unlike some other retailers around here with sketchy histories, Ritz is well established and has a great rep. So, be cool and if all else fails, MSN will have a record.

I just did this and received the email a few minutes after I got the one for from Ritz. You can also check your MSN Wallet online after you log in, it will tell you the merchants that you made a purchase from. If they are listed there, I wouldn't worry about it.
Now I need to find that right phone rep to give me a pricematch...

I have now ordered two cameras from Ritz during the last two weeks and received both. I used my name and work address for one MSN Wallet and my wife's name and our home address for the other MSN Wallet. I received e-mails from MSN for both purchases within 24 hours of my purchases. In both cases I went to the MSN website and signed up BEFORE going to the Ritz site and using "MSN Wallet" to pay for my purchases. I don't think it's necessary to sign up for MSN Wallet beforehand, but it worked for me. The S45 works fine (I am very happy with it) and the Nikon Coolpix 2500 is a Christmas present so I'll have to wait on that one. Hopefully this forum has helped more people than it has hurt. Many thanks to Thick as a Brick for so much detailed information.

Good news here, i place my order last night and didn't get the msn wallet because of a problem with ritz's system similar to a few other on here. so i cancelled this morning before shipment and rebought it and within a few minutes had both MSN dollars confirmation + ritz email

Now i just need to get my price match!

anyone I should ask for or just keep calling !
How long will they price match? 3 days after shipment or delivery or order?

I am very happy i found this site

I lucked into 256 sandisk card for 20 buks after rebate so my storage needs are taken care of
just need another battery and nice leather case for it

my price match went very smoothly
I got it for $511 and the MSN wallet 100 bucks i'm very happy
thanks again

I was going to get olympus 550 for 300 bucks instead , hope i made the right choice

I bought the S45 on 12/17 and did a price match on 12/18 with eDigitalCity.com. The guy I spoke to gave me a price of $515 but they cannot credit it to my account since eDigitalCity.com did not provide the package contents on their website. The guy said that the package contents must be the same for them to give a price match. Since it was not found on eDigitalCity.com, they did pursue the price match.

I would call back and use BestPriceAudioVideo.com or B&H , give them a few to fool around with

my guy said he will go to find out the lowest they will match and told me it was 511, did that about hour ago!

As someone else mentioned somewhere, I too didn't get the MSN confirmation right away and didn't see it in the 'Receipts' in the MSN Wallet site.

So I went into live chat and asked about it. They told me their records showed I didn't use MSN Wallet...

So, I asked for them to cancel the order, and I did what one fellow said, I cleared all my cookies, and made sure I had already had an MSN Wallet account before I ordered. When I ordered again, things went smoothly got ritz confirmation AND msn right after that.

I wish that I could do the same thing as you and just cancel my order and try again. Unfortunately, Ritz was very efficient about sending out the camera and it's sitting unopened in my house. I asked them if I could cancel the order and put in a new one. They said yes, but I would have to return the the camera, and they'd have to send out a new one. I would have to pay for the return postage.

I really didn't want to have to do this, but if it's a matter of spending $15 on S&H to save $100, I guess I'll do it.

Have you tried checking the MSN wallet site for your MSN dollar balance? You may have just not gotten the email. I placed three orders with my account and only got 2 email confirmations, but all three show up on the site.

I checked my MSN wallet account and there was a record of my Ritz buy and my $100 credit - yet I never received the e-mail from them

I called them twice last night. They cannot do a pricematch if the website with the lower price with shipping/handling is not on their list of authorized internet dealers like Target.com, BestBuy.com, etc.

I have tried six times already and I have no luck getting a price match.
