What I would like is a system of connectors that go on the camera loops that enable you to interchange a wrist strap with a neck strap, so when I go shooting and have to alternate between two cameras I can quickly snap off the wrist strap and snap on a neck strap.

By default I use wrist straps because I feel neckstraps are accidents waiting to happen when they hang over the edge of a table, shelf, etc.

Carry speed sling. http://www.carryspeed.com/

But looking on there website, I don't see a photo showing the one that I bought. You can find them on Ebay (sold new from the manufacture) and amazon.com.

The one I have has a mounting plate on the bottom (screws into the tripod mount) has a loop to attach a wrist strap, as well as the place to attach to the hook for the sling.

The wrist strap is pretty permanently connected. The bottom half will come off with the plate on the tripod screw, but there's nothing quick about undoing the whole strap off the top half.

The sling has a closing hook with a screw lock to plate on the other side, such that the camera should hang sideways. This is assuming your not attached to the idea of having the normal camera strap hanging it from the back of your neck. The sling will put the weight of the camera on your shoulder, and hang it down by your waist when not in use, and I've found very simple and much more comfortable and convenient.

I have a Sony Nex 5n and have just that. A Super Classic neck strap (for Uniloop), SLR wrist stap and two Uni Loop connectors onto the camera lugs.

One Uni Loop is supplied with the wrist strap but you will have to buy an additional pair to make up the other connection. If this is not long enough there are longer Uni Loop connectors which can be slotted on.

When the wrist strap is used the uniloop connector on the other lug hangs free. I have not found it to get in the way of holding the camera as I generally use the left hand to support the lens.

Changing the system over is fast. In the field you'll have to find extra space to store the neck strap while the wrist one is in use.

The super classic neck strap is a bit thick and possibly overkill for a lighter camera. Alternatively you could purchase a longish and thinner body strap from Optech.

Go to Optech web site - they have everything there. Then onto Ebay.

Hope this helps in some way.

I was at the B & H website yesterday checked out all the Optech options and frankly I was overwhelmed with the choices.

It looked like some of the connectors were "male" and some "female".

This is an Optech Wrist Strap that I have:

I would like to get a neck strap that would interchange with it.

Would it be too much trouble to post a link to a strap that would work?
I'm very concerned that I get the right connections.

Some straps look like they'd be too short to exchange with the wrist strap.

Very confusing!

I want to make sure I get the right things.

TIA.

Optech straps generally have a female connector at each end, each of which attaches to a male connector attached to the camera. The connector you have is called a Uni-Loop.

Go to Optech's web site at

http://optechusa.com/Find-a-Strap?___store=optechusa

and look at the available straps. Find the stock number of the one you like, such as 1001062 for the Super Classic Strap, for example, and search for that item at B&H.

Actually, the Optech straps (and pads) have a male on one side and a female on the other, then you have a Uniloop on each side of the camera (1 male, 1 female). To get a neck strap, you would probably want a pad (whichever one you want) then add the Extensions. That would hook to the male connector on your right and female on the left. If you don't already have both connectors, you would probably want this kit:

In the Uniloop model.

Sorry for the third message, but you may want to look at their custom strap page. It allows you to pick the pad you want, plus the connector. Probably gives the best overview of the different connectors and how everything fits together.

I think I have it figured out...and just coincidentally, I pulled an Adorama camera strap out of the closet - hadn't used it in a long time, and discovered it was made by Optech and could be attached with those interlocking plastic connectors.

I ordered some extension pieces so the strap would be long enough, since the Adorama strap has those annoying strappy connectors that are so hard to get through the camera lugs and their connectors, where the strap ends have to be doubled.

Yup. Like this:
