S45 at Ritz Camera

Just Bought it today from B and H photo for 499. if you live outside of NY state no taxes.
I bought with MSN Wallet last night, discovered today that the code
in Ritz computer indicates I bought through Steve's Digicam. (I
too had not gotten anything from MSN) I canceled the order,
flushed cookies from my computer, and it worked smoothly second
time.

If your MSN email didn't show up, call Ritz and ask what code is on
the order.
Guys,
I am wondering how to confirm that i get this 100 dollar credit to
spend in february. I never saw any add for it, and never got any
information about it as i was completing my order. How can i
confirm that i will be recieving this offer?
Thanks
-Steve

$499 is a great price. However, let's assume you want to buy $100 worth of memory. Now you're up to $599 total.

If you order an S45 from Ritz for $549 (no tax in any state) and pay using MSN wallet, you get $100 credit that can be used in February. February comes along, you get $100 worth of memory for free. Total cost is $549, or $50 less than B&H.

So I guess if you are just getting the camera, B&H is the best deal. If you could use some more memory (or something else from any MSN approved retailer) and can wait till February, Ritz is the best deal.

I want to thank those of you who explained the Ritz price match/MSN Dollars method. I gave Ritz prices of $469 from Barnabeez and idealphotoandvideo (These sleezeballs are really the same place and do not sell at this price unless you buy accessories; if you say you do not want accessories then they suddenly do not have the camera.) Ritz said they would not match the price because theses guys are not listed as authorized dealers with Canon and because the Ritz price includes a "bonus" package of other stuff (software, coupons, etc., which you can not opt out of). But Ritz did go down to $510.65. So with the $100 in MSN dollars, my total cost was $410.

I got my camera in secure packaging and everything works fine. A painless experience. Looking forward to spending my $100 MSN wallet money in February on another CF card. Who knows, by then I may be able to get a 512 card for close to that price.

How long did it take to receive your msn credit. I ordered an S45 from ritz on 12/17 and only received the ritz confirmation, no msn confirmation. After calling ritz 3 times with no good answers. I got someone who told me it would take 5 to 7 business days for the credit because of the busy holidays. A little worried....

Thanks

The MSN dollars are NOT a credit. It is "spending money" that you will get in February. Click on the following link for more specifics:

Thanks Tom D for your link and Steve for starting this thread. I was about to post a question on whether I should buy from a local store or save more than a few buck from online discounters when I saw this discussion. As a bonus I learnd about MSN dollars and found thru Tom's link. Now I save about $100 and have a local Ritz store for comfort if there's a problem.

Any ideas about batteries and compact flash. So far greenbattereis is best for a battery at 32.95 + 5.50 shipping. I did a pricescan for compact flash and found huge savings. I don't think I'm afraid to order these items from online as I don't think support is an issue. Any ideas/comments on accessories? Also, at one point in the thread it said MSN dollars ended on 12/16 - I cliicked on the link anyway that Tom provided and found it is now thru 12/22. I am looking forward to my S45 - hopefully before xmas. Thanks again for your help.

I placed an order with Ritz yesterday afternoon and received a confirmation email at 12:54pm. At 1:18pm I received an email from MSN rewards confirming my purchase with a link to my account which showed the correct amount. Hope this helps.

Aloha!

Bob,

I bought a SimpleTech 256MB Compact Flash Card from Amazon.com for $94.00 and printed out a $20.00 rebate form from the Amazon site. You may be able to get this card a little cheaper from Buy.com (they also have a $20.00 rebate), but I am a regular customer with Amazon and trust them.

Also, since starting this thread, I have ordered and received a Nikon Coolpix 2500 from Ritz for my son to give to his girlfriend for Christmas. I signed my wife up for MSN Wallet, used her e-mail address and credit card. Now I get more $ to spend in February!

Don't know anything about batteries yet.

Could somebody give me the name of the sales rep who gave you the pricematch after the msn wallet discount ? I have called 3 times unsuccessfully, they tell me I cannot combine the offers.

Or if you could provide me with any other info. about your order that I could use as leverage when I call them up.

BTW I live in Georgia.

Looking forward to your reply.

Thanks
Kris

Whoever started this thread, should get paid something from Ritz for all the great advertising they are getting on this. May be a free CF Card or something more! Just my 2 cents!

PS: Of course, I agree, it seems to be a great deal on this S45 with the MSN dollars!

I ordered the Canon G2 on 12/10/02. I received the camera on Tuesday 12-16-02 and have yet to receive a MSN confirmation. I've made at least 10 phone calls, 3 online chats, and 3 e-mails with no luck. I've heard several different excuses including 1) the confirmation will be sent once the order is shipped, 2) it will be sent when your credit card is charged, and 3) it will be sent when the product is actually delivered. The most recent explanation was sent by e-mail on Saturday and said "we provide the details of qualified trasnactions to MSN only on Mondays. Since your order was placed on 12/10/02, Tuesday, your transaction details will be given to them on the coming Monday." It is Wednsday, and I still have not received anything! As crazy as it seems, I think that the reps are just making up answers to make me go away.

One of the problems that I'm having is that about 8 out of the 10 people that I've called speak extremely poor English and don't seem to fully understand my questions. I've recently had some luck with a woman named Mary who seems very knowledgeable and willing to try to help (as opposed to simply making up lies). If she can not resolve this problem by tommorrow, I plan to return the camera an order though MP Superstore or Circuit City since the MSN Holiday Rewards promotion ends on 12/22.

I have purchased products from Ritz stores in Pittsburgh in the past with absolutely no problem. I am very disappointed that I've had to spend hours upon hours dealing with this fiasco. One word of advice: if you order from Ritz and do not immediately receive an MSN confirmation, cancel the order as soon as possible and try again. This seems to have worked for other people.

I don't think that Ritz is intentoinally trying to screw me. I just think that there is some sort of glitch in their system that causes some MSN transission to get lost. Unfortunately the Ritz reps do not know how to fix these problems and won't take the time to find out how to fix them.

I ordered thru ritz website last night around 12 am, and used by msn wallet and although i received an email confirmation from ritz of purchase unfortunately i never got an confirmation from msn and it never showed up as a qualitfying transaction on msn website.

even though when I placed the order I printed out receipts that say i used my MSN wallet but I am not sure that information got lost in their system.

I called ritz this morning and cancelled,

I am not sure what is going on with this promotion, seems like it works sometimes and othertimes it doesn't it's a hassle and I won't buy it unless i get msn dollars

Anyone have any foolprrof suggestions

Not necessarily. After following this thread yesterday, I placed my order through Ritz (was offered S45 for $511 and not the $510.65 others got ... oh well $.35 loss), and received within a few minutes confirming email from MSN wallet for my $100.

Oh and by the way ... following a thread on the Printers Forum, got a pretty good deal on a Canon S900 from Staples for $157.
