finding a great Camera Forum that has made me grow as not only a photographer but also a user of a great camera and as well as great people here.

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving as a special day here, I think we all secretly thank very day for what it brings.

In between the Hour Glass
and the lens of a secondhand camera
a dog barks orders to troops
lining a battlefield
of posies and poppy,

the diecast setting of a model
standing aloft, aloof
the rain pelting an icy tin roof
suggests the shutterspeed needs to be fast
to capture the enemy.

Happy Thanksgiving...thankful for many blessings...hope you are having a good one.

I am thankful for all that we take for granted: running water, sewer systems, warm homes, adequate (and sometimes too much) food, friends and family, jobs and retirement benefits.

Over one billion people in the world do not have plentiful and affordable water nor sanitation systems. What can we do about that?

Hi Kim,

I'm thankful for the fact I don't have to clean up after all you Americans have feasted on too much Turkey, Apple Pie and Cream etc--Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Cheers,
John.

Our meal was a simple and non-glutenous one and taken to the mountains where it was consumed by a large campfire. Chuckling a bit here and come on over we will do it all again any day. ;-)

Fresh vegetable juice, pineapple, some potato filled roll things that I can not remember the name of, a bit of chicken and cranberry sauce. This was followed by a bit of squash pudding.

When we were done there was a half dozen pieces of silverware, a couple of bowls and a few containers that the food was transported to the mountain in to wash, no table to clean, no dirty kitchen ... most of the clean-up was by eating.

I don't think I could say it any better than President George Washington did in his original Thanksgiving Proclamation:

"...to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country..."

Here's a link to the full text of the proclamation:

I hope all US folks on this forum had a blessed Thanksgiving Day! (Hope everyone else did too! :-))

God Bless,
Greg
