I just received my Fuji Leather Case and am sending it back. It covers about half of the Playback button and the AF, AE, and WB buttons making them very hard to use. Will be looking for a better case.

I kept mine in spite of the lousy fit, but I will replace it as soon as I can find something better. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have some of the same issues, but will keep it. As I said in another thread, I rather prefer Leica's case approach with the D-Lux 4, but I suspect I'll get used to this. Maybe I'll give it "the treatment." ;)

Mine are uncovered!

Sure you need to use the keys in a deliberate manner but it's as good as I've seen it for an ERC fit .. even my Leicas or Luigis cases are the same.
Perhaps you have a bad sample.

Hi

I'm interested in the case, but am hesitating because of what has been said about access on the left side. I had a really nice one for my LX3 and it was a much smaller camera than the x10, so it can be done.

Would you mind taking a snapshot of your case?

Much appreciated - thanks!

its not that they cover the left side button, but they make them a lot more recessed. The case is quite thick, and butts up right against the buttons on the left. They are a little more difficult to access for sure, but they are far from unusable. The serious sexy look the case provides makes this inconvenience worth it ;)

Thanks! I guess it depends on the size of one's fingers, but I can definitely live with that. I love these cases because they take up little space, are always on, provide better grip, look cool and last forever. Downside: crazy price.

I'll order one tomorrow.

Thanks.

Wondering if there is enough room in the cover to accomodate the ThumbsUp thumb rest? Anyone tried this or want to provide an opinion?

Opinion only because I do not have the thumbgrip.
I put a 12mm hard rubber spacer behing the mode dial and the case closes ok.
Hope this helps............

That should do it. Thanks.

Picked up the Fuji case from JR Electronics for less than $120 with free shipping using the promo code JRGOOG for $10 off.

Mine didn't look anything like this. Mine covered almost half of the buttons. You couldn't read the + or - signs on the AE and AF keys and only half of the A's. The W on the white balance key looked like a V. If mine had looked as good as yours, I would have kept it.

I went to Jessops in London and bought the leather case. What can I say? I'm quite disappointed in the design and fit of this case, especially given its price . Here are my observations:
  • The left side buttons are fine with my moderately-sized fingers, but I'd imagine it would be fiddly with larger hands. Unfortunately, there's little space to work with, so I think they've done what they can do...
  • The front of the case is poorly designed. On the right side, the leather is not shaped around the cameras protruding grip area. That could have been done easily with a light-weight moulded insert. Instead, it just sticks out with a noticeable gap between the leather and the camera.
  • The leather does not fit very well around the sides, so there is a bit of gap between it and the camera both front and back.Again, a light-weight moulded insert would have taken care of this.
  • The top part of the case seems over-proportioned for the size of the camera. They should have been able to make it smaller on top and thereby reduce the overall size of the case. the case feels about an inch higher than the camera.
  • the way the designers have chosen to handle how the top case attached to the bottom is clumsy: two buttons/flaps that attach to the bottom and then a magnet for the front part. It's ugly in my view and could have been different, for example by having just one button in the middle for the back part and then one button or a magnet in the middle for the front. Or a wider 'lip' with two buttons underneath. The case is wide enough for the two parts to meet in the middle. There are other ways it could have been done, but they chose a design that makes it all feel quite clumsy rather than elegant.
Those are my initial thoughts. I'll feel it out for a few days, but I'm inclined to return it and wait for something better. The whole point of this kind of case is to have a simple, always-on protection that does not add too much bulk to the camera. This case, I feel, adds too much size and does so in less-than-ideal way. I've used the leather case for the LX3 and loved it, and I've used lots of these kinds of cases in the past with my old film SLRs - this is at the bottom of that list in terms of design. Sadly.
