X10 : need help re focus lock

Hi!

currently travelling abroad I have only limited access to internet so can't check the manual...

I can't get the camera to lock focus, and only focus, when half pressing the shutter.

I understand it is possible using the ael/afl switch, but I want to do it with shutter button only.

menus. You can configure the AE/AF button there.

Before your next trip, download the user manual in PDF form and email it to yourself or otherwise store it in your phone or laptop that travels with you.
 
You may have inadvertently changed the setting from single shot to continuios, or some similar setting.
 
Disable the face detection and try it again.
