Is the Buckhead area of Atlanta nice, safe? My sister and I want to get away for a few days but neither one of us know much about Atlanta. Oh, and my little Canon S100 is coming a long too. So far, we've looked at the Atlanta Marriott Buckhead Hotel.

The only time I was there, we went to the Fox Theatre. I don't think the theatre is in the same area.

Open to recommendations.

Thank you.

I live north of Atlanta. Buckhead is fine, it's a rich/preppie section of the city.

I don't know if you'll want to do sightseeing, but downtown has quite a few attractions. Centennial Park will be all lit up for the holidays. Lennox mall has an anual Christmas tree lighting on Thanksgiving day. The mall is in Buckhead.

PS: The Fox Theater is downtown.

Thank you LeeStar!

Since we only have two days there, we won't be doing much. Of course, we won't be able to resist the malls but we've pretty muchdecided on these two venues:
  • high museum
  • botantical gardens
Unlike my last brief visit to Atlanta, this time I'm bring my camera. I remember that the city was lovely lit up at night, and some of the buildings were stunning.

The hotel we found is pretty reasonably priced for the time we want to go there and it includes free parking. We're booking at a place we're unfamiliar with so all we want is that it's in a relatively safe place. Did that once in Savannah many years ago and learned my lesson. At least we were able to cancel and find a hotel in a safer place.

I've been asking around and have heard from a few people that Buckhead is a nice area.

Lennox mall would be your best bet. I've heard it's one of the most popular in Atlanta, I guess because the people who live there can still afford to shop! ;) Almost all the malls in the area sadly are suffering from lack of business, they're dead even on the weekends and many of the stores have closed down because they can't afford the rent. Several that I used to shop at just aren't worth going to anymore. Another one that still draws a good crowd is Perimeter mall.

Yes they are. I'm planning to get down there with my camera before the holidays are over and get some night shots of the decorations. Do share some of yours with us.

Do you remember what area that was? Savannah is another on my list of places I want to visit with my camera. Of course I want to be in a good part of town.

Have a great trip!

It's been some time since I've been there, so give me a week or so to get the information. I'll need to contact my "ex-relatives" in Savannah. :0 lol
Have a great trip!
Than you. Am really excited about getting away for a few days with my sister and camera. Just hope it's not too cold as I'm from Florida. Well, it gotta be warmer than where we originally planned to go: Murphy NC.
