I just got a 5700 and I love it, the pix are amazing.

i have 2 issues with it tho, and i think its probly that i dont know how to use it yet...

1. when i try to zoom in on something, it zooms really fast and i have to zoom in / out many times to get it right... my old sony had a 2 stage zoom so you could zoom in slow or fast, anyone know if theres a way to adjust the speed of zoom?

2. on really close up shots with the macro shot selected the camera focuses on the velvet background underneath my subject... how can i manually adjust this or get it to focus on the target?

thanks guys

It has a 2 speed zoom, check manual.

Set to AF Area Mode Manual, works very nice, in manual also.

Hi shobloth,

1. Adjust the zoom speed, according to page 132 of your manual. It can be found in the setup menu, under 'Zoom options'.

2. Try either to let the subject take a bigger part of your total composition or to Manual focus on the subject. Either way, for Macro shots, a tri-pod is advisable. More on the subject of manual focusing can be found in your manual on pages 80 and 81.

Have fun!
Mike.

Hi Shobloth,

For manual focussing, maybe this might help:

You can actually zoom in small increments by pressing and quickly releasing the zoom button. You have to get a feel for it, though.

As for your macro, what is it that you're photographing? Is there enough contrast between the subject and the background? Also, you might want to turn AF Area Mode to Manual and make certain that you are framed on the subject proplerly.
