I'm here to learn :)

That's a type a parasitic wasp. It's eggs would be laid inside another arthropod (usually an insect larvae or a spider) which was either alive or in a paralyzed state. The wasp larvae consumes it's host, and then pupates into it's adult form. So it didn't hatch from just an egg to this state. Most likely the wasp flew in during production.

I had a similar thing happen many years ago now. I discovered a small moth on the inside of my Pentax 85mm Takumar lens. It was right between the elements. It left moth dust where ever it had flown around. I could find no way that it could have entered the lens, and the moth was not in the lens when it was purchased. It didn't show up until a couple of years later, and the lens had been kept in a snap down lens case. I'm still puzzled by that. I concluded it had to have hatched from an egg, since it was much too large to have crawled in any crack the lens had.
Hello everybody!Im soory that my English are not so good, but ill try to explain in simple words!

I own a Canon G12 and few days ago i discovered a bug inside the lense. It was crashed on the lense from the inside probably from the zoom!I dont know how the hell did it get in there but i thought the lenses on the cameras are a closed circuit for not to leave dust run through. Is true or false?

I ask around some photographers and they all agreed on that, only the people from Canon service are saying otherwise!!!Im confused!!!!

If a bug is able to enter inside the lense then i have to think that the camera is not so well designed.

The Canon service here in Greece were i live said to me that ill have to change the whole lense which as you guess it is quite expensive and they can not put it on my guarantee!(I have it less than 6 months)

I now have to send a complain to Canon centrals and i dont if i can support my situation!

I'm far from expert in this things and i would appreciate any opinions or suggestions of how to handle this!I cant pay for a new lense right now so i want to know if i have a strong case here and i can demand the quaranty to cover the expenses!
Is anyone out there that can help me with that?
Thanks
Irene

ps.again sorry for my english...

No biggie, that's just Canons new sensor cleaner.

And what would the newly hatched bug feast on to get that size?
Depends on what you've been taking pictures of, of course!

Some people ask the silliest questions! :-)

I really cant tell!
Its beyong weird!
Do you think i have a case against Canon?
There have been a lot of jokes and, I guess, on the surface this is pretty funny.

I don't know if you have a case against Canon or not but I wouldn't give up thinking you don't.

Call Canon and ask if you can have the case "escalated" above the first level of tech support. If the bug wasn't in the camera from the get-go, I don't see how it could have gotten in there unless there was a larger than usual gap in the lens area. I don't know for sure, but I surely would fight for Canon to fix the lens under any warranty.
