I have it on my GH2. Very sharp and just wide enough. It is kind of too small on the GH2. With a hood, it looks good. I have no complaint since I got it brand new for $200 from ebay.

Go for it. It is a good lens.

I also bought one off ebay for $200 from a Hong Kong seller two months ago. Very happy. It's still working and working well. One of my favorite lenses now.

The 20mm for comparison, mainly to highlight the FOV difference. The apertures on both were not wide open, and it wasn't a brick wall ....

I only have the 20 and 14 to compare between (m43 is not my primary system)

-good sharpness wide open for most of the frame but lags behind the 20mm
-quick autofocus compared to the slow buzzy 20
-af is very quiet
-very small size and light

-plastic, metal mount and focus by wire ring is a bit stiffer than expected but functions fine. No rattles or extensive gaps. Build is good.

I use it a lot for street shots and stitching together panoramics on a GF-1. As light levels drop I appreciate the medium fast aperture. I'd certainly recommend it.

It's one of my fav lenses.

The main advantage of the 14mm lens are the size, and the very fast and silent AF. Optically, it is quite good, but perhaps not stunning. You wouldn't find any problems optically with most uses.

It is good for video use, since the AF is quick and silent.

My comparison with the 20mm lens here:

It is very good lens, I love it.
I did not expect it from prime, after owning Olympus 25 mm pancake.
You will not be disappointed.

Thanks very much for the input, looks like this is the next lens for me. Will start to look at prices and get one.

The 14 is a great lens, not as fast as the 20 but much quieter and faster focusing. It's on my E-PL3 most of the time (use my GH2 with zoom lenses, 14-140 mainly, most of the time).

For those who use this lens on an Olympus body...how much CA do you get? Since if my understanding is right, the Panasonic's take care of CA and distortion in software correction, but the Oly's only take care of the distortion? Since I'm also thinking of this lens...If using a zoom, always find myself at the wide end (well once in a while at the other, but seldom in between). It sure is compact, and from photos I've seen with it seems pretty darn good.

Is the focus totally internal, no moving of the lens at all, externally?

Anyone got the14mm Panny prime and what's the verdict. Thanks in advance.
I have one but don't use it much. But I tend not to shoot wide anyway. A little soft in the corners but otherwise fine.

I'm happy with mine on a GF2, but more importantly the files pass Alamy quality control so my carry around camera can be used for submissions to them.

I know Alamy QC may not be the most definitive source for lens quality but it is a real world source of evaluation for me.

I use mine on a Pen E-p2 and so far the CA has been hardly noticeable to me, even in very contrasty situations. It's a joy to use and delivers damn fine pictures.

I don't have the camera here now but I'm 99% sure it doesnt move at all. I'd notice because i've been using a polarizer with it recently.

It's very small. It's very sharp. It's silent during video. It's worth it, get it.

It's a nice complement to my 20mm+GF-1 kit.

Lucky to have gotten one, new in box, for $100, from a fellow that was selling his MFT kit for a Fuji X100.
I find it to be very sharp and contrasty, and as good as my 20mm.

It should be and nice walk around lens with the GX-3 for street photography when 28mm FL is ideal.

Good luck.

My most used lens on E-PM1. Even sold Panny 20mm cause at f1.7 in low light the DoF is too shallow for most uses anyway while Panny 14mm wide open always delivers sufficient DoF. I now have Oly 45mm if I want shallow DoF.

E-PL2, E-PM1; 14-150mm f4-5.6, 14mm f2.5, 45mm f1.8

Thanks again all, I have ordered the 14mm to complement my wife's new E-PM1 which is also on order, got the 14mm for £150 on ebay brand new and the Mini at £340 both delivered free. I use a GH2 so we can mix and match whilst out shooting. This also makes the E-PM1 + 14mm very compact for her bag.

I've also added a Voigtlander 28mm optical viewfinder which makes the camera very fast shooting. Since I shoot 3:2, the viewfinder is fine -- but even if I had 4:3 set, I would still use it. I only focus in the center and use the center-weighted averaging for meter reading so I can just point the camera and shoot with a lot of confidence.

Fits in a jacket pocket easily.

I suspect it should have a hood in cross light situations but I haven't got one. I would prefer a 12mm (24mm equiv) but I want the low profile of the pancake. I have got the f1.8 45mm coming to sit above it in the lens line; I would really, really love a pancake 9mm or 10mm tocome in under it.

But yes, it is an excellent lens, doesn't rotate in focusing. I wouldn't have it if it did. I use a polarizer with it frequently.

Cheers, geoff
