A77: All I care about is ISO 6400

Boy it doesn't take much for people to become judgmental.

I shoot indoor dog shows in barns and other buildings with poor light. Fast moving dogs changing postions randomly. Normally use my Canon 7D. I don't like FF for it as I need all the DOF I can get. Sony's sensor is cleaner than Canon's hence my interest.

I am talking jpg engine, not RAW Canon images

I hate the noise patterns on all the Nikons I have shot with, APSC and FF. That's why they are not a consideration. Their top of the line is the only acceptable camera they make for what I need but I don't want to spend the money and it's way too big and heavy for my use.

Thanks, I am sure if I wait they will make something eventually that is acceptable for what I need.

Ah, finally someone like-minded :-) Noise patterns make a huge difference to me.

Do you need 24mp? If not look into the Sony A580, Nikon D7000 or the Pentax K-5 which all use the same Sony 16mp sensor. The A55 and A35 also use the same sensor but lose 1/2 stop of light due to the SLT design making them slightly behind the first 3 mentioned cameras at high iso's. If the A77 really interests you look at it's files downsized to 16mp for an accurate comparison. Down sizing makes noise less visible.
