Using cinema lenses for still photography?

Why not use the cn-e50mm t1.3 for photography in a 5dmkii? Advantages/disadvantages?
disadvantage = $7000!!!!
and weight and no AF

advantage = remains to be seen, for the 24 perhaps even less distortion and for the zooms perhaps radically less distortion and 100% par focal and zero focus breathing

might not be any sharper though, at all, if even

Because the c300 is a fully manual video camera, I anticipate that the cinema lenses will also be fully manual: both manual focus & manual aperture. While Canon clearly stated that the EF mount will work on the new video camera, the new video lenses are are not designed for auto aperture. Stop down metering will be necessary. ie: first focus wide open, then adjust aperture to desired size, read exposure and set manually in camera then shoot. It will get very dark at smaller apertures, so if you recompose you will have to start all over again.

Now, talking about the only new cinema lenses that would be usable on 5d2 without severe vignetting, they are no more and no less parfocal than the existing EF lenses they are most likely based upon: fixed focal length will do that for you.

why are the cine lenses so much larger than typical EOS lenses?

for the primes, it looks like they are similar to the 24 f1.4, 50 f1.2, 85 f1.2 lenses, but the mechanics is totally different for large focus rotation angle and manual aperture.

the zooms are around f 3.5 for 300mm.
and the 14.5 - 60mm zoom seems like a massive retrofocus design.

Just shows how difficult it is to make good wide-angle zooms, a lot bigger than a 50mm lens.

Life is short, time to zoom in ©

I just want to get that movie look but acheived in my stills... that special feel as a still shot I see from simple angles that I see in hd films. Or is there some other magic going on such as post editing? It just seems the clarity, focus, and light is just different via those cine cameras.
