Can demo any single lens for free, what would you pick??

A reseller I've done business with in the past told to me to pick any lens for a 30-day eval/demo period. If this was you what you pick given the following considerations:

1. Will go on an A700 body
2. Will be shooting portraits outside
3. Might consider buying at some point so I don't want a $2,000 lens.
4. Looking for nice color with creamy bokehs.

STF 135, no question.
 
STF 135f2.8 for dreamy creamy bokeh :) Only if you can live with manual though. if not, the ALL MIGHTY CZ135f1.8!

Why 135? For a portrait won't I have to stand forever away from the subject?

You are outdoors anyway, right?

Maybe not a good solution for a small studio, but shouldn't be an issue outdoors. I often try to grab headshots of my kids w/ my beercan when outdoors, because of its fantastic bokeh...

I've seen pro photogs shoot portraits with 300-2.8's (on their blogs)...

I would be interested in the CZ 135 1.8 as well. Not for portraits, but for action photography (sports, etc). Given that the A77 has a larger sensor, this would allow for significant cropping. Also, at 1.8, it might come in handy for low light situations. With the improved autofocus, as well as higher frame rates of the A77, this lens might be perfect for indoor sporting.
 
i guess you meant to say A77 has more megapixels...

Too bad you couldn't try lens on A77, otherwise with peaking feature, 135STF will be very good match. The next best thing is 135/1.8 ZA. Only problem is once you tried, there no looking back. That's what happened to me.

Thanks for the correction. I did mean large as in larger number of pixils.
 
Yes, MF only because of the way it was designed, this is a very unique one of a kind lens that does not exist in any other brand, it also has two sets of apertures, one of them is manual, read about it, there are actually websites dedicated to this lens, it is known as a the king of the bokeh. It's light transmission when wide open is not 2.8 though, it's more like 4.5.

with an APS-C? Outside portraits? IMO CZ85 is the best choice. The CZ135 is an awesome lens (I have it), but there will be some occasions where even if you're outside, you may not have room to back up. The 85mm will be easier to work with (I also have the 85mm f1.4, but the Sigma).
