Hi, I am planning to pick up a B+W polarizer (49mm for my NEX) Does anyone know if i need the SLIM or regular version?

B+W 49mm Kaeseman Circular Polarizing Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC)
B+W 49mm Kaeseman SLIM Circular Polarizing Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC)

price is about the same

thank you

Given the target lens includes the 16 (and the price is about the same), I'd say the slim would reduce vignette liklihood.

(curiosity) What are these costing?

I recently bought a 49mm Marumi DHG polarizer for my NEX, and it works well with no readily apparent vignetting on either the kit zoom or the 16mm. It's built like a Nikon C-PL II -- slim, but with outer threads. That makes it possible to use the normal lens cap, which is a big plus.

It's a bargain, too.

After checking the specs on B&H's website, I think the slim version lacks front threads. That means you can't use the Sony lens cap or any other snap-on lens cap. I consider that a serious drawback. I use a regular (non-slim) Heliopan polarizer on the 18-55 and have never noticed any vignetting, but have no experience with the 16mm.
