Need help with violet color on the shown image the real color is violet or purple but my 602 LCD shows it as a bright blue color. My monitor shows the color correctly. Is it only my 602 LCD has this problem with violet color displayed on LCD or it is a common problem.

I've noticed colors being different on the LCD also. Might have something to do with whitebalance not being apart of the LCD image under auto.

Bradly,

I see your point and the WB setting does not change the LCD color. I was thinking to exchange for another 602 tomorrow. Then how you evaluate the image?… just trust to the camera? The photo shown in the first message reflects very correct colors the same on the monitor but LCD shows as a bright blue. I had Olympus before and LCD was adjusted with WB set and displayed very correct colors. By a habit I am expecting the same from a better camera.
Thanks
Leo

In all honesty I truly doubt that this is an exhange worthy issue, but as you are so concerned if you decide on this course of action take a card with the offending shot on it and try it on another 602...

I'm with Tom, I can see a difference in WB on the LCD. Just flick it onto the tungsten balance setting under natural light and watch everything go blue.

I wouldn't worry about it if the monitor and prints come out right. The screen is just for composition after all.You could try changing the brightness, I've noticed colours get much more saturated on the screen as it gets darker so that may change it a bit.
I do think this is a particularly tricky colour actually.

Ian
Hi Leo,

when I go through the white balance settings I see changes on my
LCD, so I think it is affecting the LCD. I can't reproduce your
problem, mainly because at the moment we don't have such beautiful
colored flowers as yours over here.

I have also just had a play with the lcd brightness control. It makes such a difference, esp. with regards to the blueness of the sky. Set too bright, and it washes out to grey! Acually dropped mine back a notch as a result of this.

It really does not matter what you see on that LCD screen, cause only the photographer will see that. Being a photographer is being able to capture colors and images for others to see and enjoy! If the output via print or viewing on a monitor/tv are coming out with the correct colors, then you've done your job.

Yes, but John, you may easily erase a shot by the judgement you make on the preview.

MkeBee,
That what I am planning for today.

Tom,

It is good to know. When I go through the white balance setting my LCD changes only when I set it to incandescent light bulb. May be there is something wrong. I even in custom if I use not white but colored paper the LCD stays the same, however the recorded image is correct.
Thanks

Keith,

I have tried it. The brightness adjustment changes only LCD brightness but not the colors.
Thanks

Timothy,

It was. I would trust the camera to pick the correct WB before the image is recorded (there is no choice for a film camera), however, the post-review (very useful function) should show the correct color or whatever was recorded. Without displaying recorded image correctly the post-review is not a useful function. That is my complain or a question. Sorry, it ihas been modified. I do plan today going to a local store to test recorded on my SM card images and click few more test photos,

For some reason custom WB setting on my 602 stopped working. It returned back to normal after I reseated the camera in the Set menu.
Thanks for help and ideas.

Problem 1:

I have taken the memory card with violet flowers to several local shops to see how the other cameras (Fuji, Olympus) would display my violet flowers on LCD and EVF.. My violet flowers were displayed in many different blues but blues and not in violet. It was from dark to light blue in every Olympus and Fuji except one 602 which showed some tint of the violet color..

Problem 2:

The camera fully recovered after being more than 2 hours without batteries Spot Metering became functional again (almost washed image).

Problem 3:

This problem is the most confusing for me. The custom WB function stopped functioning properly. After it is selected from the menu and OK button pushed then the guide that is asking to choose from pushing BACK, OK, or SHUTTER buttons would not appear but just a normal screen ready to take a picture. I did reset my camera from the SET menu and it started functioning, as it should. A store 602 camera had identical problem. I was able to set Custom WB only after the camera (demo) was reset from the SET menu.

Hope it the problems are not too annoying… if it is the just skip it.
Thanks
Leo

Leo,
One problem at a time........
I have just downloaded your violets and transfered them to my 602.....
they do display with a very different bright blue on my lcd screen

my view would be - accept it - the camera LCD is a transient convenience for reviewing to a limited degee its good but not perfect......!

If you think this is important get your money back - but I think any other 602's will be similar.....
