7HI using +10 Hoya Macro test shots

Just ran a couple of shots with the filter and although I can focus from less then 1 inch away, the depth of field is so small that I think I am going to return it. Please look at the sample pictures in my gallery and pbase, if anyone has any idea how to help increase the depth of field using a filter like this, please help!

I'd recommend getting the Hoya +1, +2, +4 package. I got mine from 2filter.com. You can screw on combinations of lenses to get more flexibility. +10 is way way too much in my opinion.

Will49, I just loved your water drop shots. I especially liked the 0648 photo, just beautiful colours and for me I especially liked the hole that the water drop has left.

Could you tell me a bit of how you set everything up? I am very interested in playing with these types of shots.

I liked to water shots, very nice
I will return the filter to B+H and order the ones you have.
I just needed a little more room to move in, the 10 is way overkill

I have only seen +1, +2, and +4. Am I assume the one you used is way more powerful than these? Do these other "filters" work better?

Hi: I think that a +10 lens is really too much. I have a Hoya set of +1 +2 +4. that I use sometimes. All these lenses rpoduce "soft" edges.I too, like to shoot small things, flowers mainly and have found that using the Macro mode is really wonderful. Shoot a big file and then crop the part you want. I use the auto focusing mode most of the time, use the spot focus to zoom in on the area that i want most to be in focus. I always use a tripod and a remote cable release. Using a small ISO (100), and a small F-stop (F-8) also help. You can take a look at my pictures, and how they were taken by going to.

+10 is what I used and I am going to order the +1,+2, and+4 filter after I get my money back from this one.

It worked this time Rony. :-)

I just had a look at your pictures in the "In Box" especially "E.-vitelinum#25.jpg" you might want to check out some of my flower pictures, I have a flower there that is obviously from the same family as E.-vitelinum#25.jpg but more developed. I was told mine was called the crucifix flower, a most unusual flower indeed.

I'm getting overwhelmed by all the super shots people have on display. More fine work. You decided not to take your camera up into the sky!
I remember one post of someone who took the D7 skydiving!

WOW. I am getting excited about these close-up lenses...for obvious
reasons. Some great shots.

My question is what have all found to be the best size lenses to step
up to(ie 49mm to 62mm). The Hoya +1 +2 +4 looks to be the set.
