Here's some photos that describe why I'm staying with Olympus. From focal lengths 14mm FL to 300mm FL, in bright sunshine or low light I can get quite a variety of images. I took these this past summer and autumn. Sure, I'm looking around (like a lot of you) to see what else is out there, but I'm in no hurry to move on either. The Olympus DSLR system, with the kit and standard lenses has allowed me to take nice photos at low cost, for four years now. Please show your photos (if you would like), which might best describe why you also are staying with Olympus. :)

Very nice pictures. More than enough for me too.

You think you can not take the same pictures with another brand?

I think you can.

And on top, with some other brands you can do a lot more and a lot better in a lot more challenging situations.

But it's tough to do it for the price.

I got an e520 for $460 new in 2008
I picked up a [email protected] for $100 new in box in 2010
I picked up a [email protected] for $170 (with an FL36 flash thrown in)
I picked up a 70-300mm@4 for $200

So I have 28-600mm covered with good quality glass for well under $1k, and that includes the really nice 14-54 which is very sharp.

The OP said nothing about other brands. He simply stated that the quality his Oly cameras are providing him with is good enough not to make him switch.

Nice photos, by the way. Love that heron shot.

Hurray! Fantastic- I especially like the E500 colours - did it have a kodak CCD?

I see no reason to change either, and if they bring out an E50 then that and a two lens system (plus my existing) will probably do me for another 5 years.

Thanks everyone for your pictures and comments. I just wanted to say and share some positive experiences I've had with Olympus for these past four years.

What you all see in those pictures are from all four cameras that I've used with all four lenses. I do use them all. I can't afford expensive equipment, but over many years, I've purchased three used cameras and one used lens for much less than if they were new...much less...one of them for $130 (USD) on Ebay. To answer one person's question...yes...the E-500 has the Kodak CCD sensor. To answer another person's comments...of course we can use other brands and get better pictures...with lots of money (which I don't have). I'm am looking at the Nikon D5100 and kit lenses because of the high ISO performance and general high quality at an affordable price...but just looking at this time. But while I or we are looking or wanting something better, let's just enjoy our equipment, and try to do the best that we can with them.

The picture of the young lady in the forest standing on the log was a candid photo. I had the ISO level, aperture and focal length at the point where I thought it would give me the sharpest photo with the available light. It took a lot of skill to keep the camera steady on a cloudy day with light intermittent rain and lots of tree cover. Sure, it would be nice to have that camera that could provide for us usable ISO3200 or higher levels so we can get higher shutter speeds, but if we work with the limitations we have, we can gets some amazing pictures....even with old DSLR cameras and inexpensive lenses. :)

Also did anyone notice the F22 photo? Please don't tell any of the lens diffraction folks about this...so we don't start arguing...they might not understand what we can do with our Zuiko lenses. :)

Yes, I do...got lots more. Here's a few more of this year's beach volleyball at Seaside, Oregon. We were fortunate to have some sun, plus we can get fairly close without having to worry about crowds of people (unless you take them at the main event).

As you can expect at the beach in Oregon, sometimes we had sunshine and sometimes we did not, but overall it was a nice day for taking photos. The first picture give us an idea of the size of the event. You can see all the volleyball courts in the distance.

The pictures here are from all four of my cameras with lenses attached. There's no changing of lenses for me in all this sand. I had one extra camera and lens that I didn't need to bring, but I like to play around with them. :)

... is absolutely amazing. The velvety texture is apparent but the shot is also very sharp. That can't have been any easy one to get. I'm going to use it as my model and try those settings on what few flowers remain in my garden.

You're clearly the kind of gifted photographer who can make any camera look great but you're certainly getting your money's worth out of the Olympus system.

Thanks. That rose was actually at F13, but I should have had a little greater depth of field. I take lots of pictures of flowers with the Zuiko 70-300mm lens.

Here's one you might like at F18.

The pics are geat. The color is fantastic. Sharp and great contrast.

That is why I still go back to ,my E 500 and leave the E 30 home.

I have the same lenses you have love them

Well will a Leica do better? Will a Zeiss lens do better?

I strongly doubt it since I have pics with I took with my Hassy , Leica and Contax and the OLY glass is just as good.

The only prob is the OLY company that it drops it's users and does not give support as does Nikon, Leica, Hassy or Canon. But the quality is in OLY.

I have Hugh blow ups in my office taken with OLY glass that are excellent.

Your close ups are a testimony that good composure and good glass work well together.

Nice photos. No reason to change to another brand in my opinion. Of course, I also agree with the poster who said that you have to talent to take good photos with any brand of camera.

IMHO, I think there is no need for such a post "Why I am staying with XXX brand". As you see, some have pointed out correctly that why just Olympus? Any brand can do the job!

I feel personally that such posts will attract trolling / flaming and probably brand wars, in some variations or another. And also, other brands fanboys might feel that OP is trying hard to justify the purchase / defend the brand. Worst, some might even feel the OP is trying to taunt other brand lovers that "See, can you beat these for the price I paid, compared to like... other systems such as Ni* n D3S / Ca n 1D?

I just feel that as an Olympus PEN user myself, just shoot and enjoy yourself. There is no need for such a title. The title could have been better if it was "I love my E520"!

Just my 2 cents, and not intending to find fault with anyone. :)

Sorry about the title if you don't like it...can't keep everyone happy all the time...just enjoy your cameras and lenses. :)
