Nice! I was in Alaska recently and saw a lot of eagles. Did not see any bears although they were all around us. Kind of glad I did not run into one!

I agree but my issue is less with the mediocre images posted here and the over the top promotion by "you know who" than the totally undeserved adulation of his work by the posters here. I also will agree that he and they have the right to post their work and opinions but I take serious issue with their tone to my two previous replies. I brought forth obvious technical deficiencies that were scorned. If anyone here promotes themselves as a pro they better darn be ready to produce the goods. His work is simply sub-par for any wildlife photographer that is when he actually shoots wildlife and not tethered, caged, posed, or trained animals and still can't get a good exposure. Interesting that he's virtually the only self professed pro on this forum so what does that tell you about the company he keeps. Obviously he cannot compete with real pros. I never replied to his post to bash but rather to question the over-rated praise.when this forum becomes moderated and albums of such snaps (and self promotion) are moved over to a "my photos" forum.

Agree with you there 110%. "Undeserved adulation" is most common and typical of images posted on dpreview. I've said for years - " you post snaps here and what you get is what your mother tells you - wonderful, fantastic, great, etc". There are very very few photographers here who will C&C. It is hopeless, dpreview is a gear head site. Which is fine, it fulfills a need for me. For good wildlife C&C sites there are several others. Here is one of my favorites -I agree but my issue is less with the mediocre images posted here and the over the top promotion by "you know who" than the totally undeserved adulation of his work by the posters here. The D300 performed like a dream, iso 800 was pushing it, but with some nr on the background, things look fine to me.
I did a lot of shooting at iso 640, and will post a few later on in the week., getting ready for Tanzania next Friday, so not tons of time for all this work!
take care bud.
