Is "L" mark the actual infinity point?

Hi, I just received a Tamron SP 90 2.8 Macro lens that I bought used. Seems to be in perfect condition, but when I go to focus at infinity, the infinity (sideways 8) symbol doesn't make it all the way to the indicator line. It sits just off to the right. Instead it stops at the white L mark. I'm wondering if this is actually it focusing at infinity. I saw a much older thread here where people said that it actually is at infinity.

Hopefully I have worded my question in the best way so that I don't confuse anyone that may try to answer.

Infinity focus changes depending on temperature conditions that's why modern lenses have no infinity stop, they can be focused past infinity.

I think you really need to test this lens, to make sure there's nothing wrong with it.

You should walk to infinity, then fire your Pocket Wizard, and review that brick wall at the corners at max resoulution.

If it ain't up to snuff, I'd send it back and ask for a fifth sample lens.
