Have a perfectly nice EOS-7D setup, but too big for all day outings, so I jumped onto the 5N as an alternative. Bought the two lens kit and then....

Saw pictures with the Contax G45 F2 and was wowed.. Found one...Got it and took some pics at a friend's wedding. Very lovely.

So, now I have

Contax G45 F2
Contax G90 F2.8
Contax C/Y 28mm 2.8 on the way
Minolta 24mm 2.8 MD 55 on the way
Minolta 35-70 F3.5 MD on the way
Leica Tele-Elmarit-M 90/2.8 on the way...

Make me stop!!!!!!!!

stop. pleeeeeeeeeeeease.

btw how are the contax?

I'm in a similar situation. My 5n kit will get close to 2500 dollar mark !!
I already have the Contax 45 and 90 but I had to get one serviced, buy new caps,

buy two adapters. plus adapters for my two Nikkor (24 and 85 lenses)., bag, extra battery, strap, Voigtlander 35mm 1.4( on order), adapter for it, hood, small tripod.

Phew.

I wish I was in your situation...

I have a Nex 7 on order. Until it arrives I have been purchasing fotodiox adaptors for my Contax G triad. 28,45 and 90. [I knew if I held onto them they would be reborn]

Looking for the best adapters for my old FD collection. 20, 28, 50L 85L 200, and 300L..
I am so looking forward to this adventure to begin...

Wow; nice FDs to start off with! The mailman just delivered my FDn 100mm F2--I'm very excited to see how this lens performs. I read it's Canon's best short telephoto and sharper than the 100mm macro.

By the way I use Rainbowimaging FD to Nex adapters--cost $26 and work great.

Correction..

Maybe I should say "2nd best"...the 85mm 1.2L holds #1 slot. I do wonder about diffraction stopped down however. I bet at f8, the 100mm F2 is sharper.

I know the feeling as I too have a 7D, 600D and a slew of lenses but I am a woman of 71 and the weight is too much. So I too bought a 5n kit as I had a holiday in Paris and it came two days before I left. I am thrilled with the low-light performance of the camera without a flash and the kit weighs less than my f2.8 by itself. I took this in the hotel room and am thrilled with the results and would only buy another for the bokeh, probably the 50mm OSS when it comes out. What do you think of my first indoor shot?

Sorry I can't show you as it is too busy tonight. You will just have to take my word for it or look up Fredy Ross in Facebook under Ella and Paris Fall in Love.

Hi Fredy,

Wonderful shot and have a blast with your granddaughter. What a special time for both of you!!!!!

Thanks for the info on the adapter. I will get a couple.

You will love the FDn 100mm. It's been a long time since I had one but I remember it fondly.

LOL! You have almost the same symptoms as me! Let me know if you find the cure.
I'm working on the hypothesis that more lenses is the answer.

"Leica Tele-Elmarit-M 90/2.8 on the way..." seems excessive given you already have the Contax G 90mm/2.8 (this is your conscience speaking)... but I can't say I haven't considered doing the same. ;)

I have a valid reason, or at least one that supports my habit..

My original adapter G is horrible. It binds and I have lost many shots due to not being able to focus in time... So, I hedged my bet by buying another (Metabones) adapter and then getting some "barrel" focusing lens. Hence, the Leica... I assume (ha ha) that I will choose and sell a couple to other addicted people. Misery loves company....

Empty bank account may ultimately be the cure.....

Actually, I had accumulated some nice "boutique" dive watches and then realized that there were only one or two that I wore often, so I sold the others. I expect to do the same here, but I was too poor as an amateur and family man to buy expensive glass. Now I know how fun the glass is. Much more fun than the cameras...

I'm in the same boat here: Good Canon 7D setup and thinking to buy the NEX-5N. I played with it at Best Buy yesterday and was super impressed. I've ordered and returned the Panasonic GH1, GH2, and G3...I didn't like the feel and EFV. The Sony NEX seems to be in a totally different ball game / ergonomic feel.

Does the NEX-5N know / display what aperture you are setting?
No, only with A-mount lenses on the Sony adapter does the camera know the aperture.
Can you use aperture priority mode?
Yes, that's the way I use it.
Are any focusing aids available on the screen? Does it focus confirm in any way?
Yes, magnification and peaking.
Peaking is like a focus confirm on steroids.
Magnification works best for precise focus when the DoF is shallow.
You can of course use peaking with magnification.

I haven't tried the EVF, but my suspicion is that it will rock when focusing manually.

You could try LENSANON. Or Lensaholics Anonymous.

I just got a Like-New+ Leica 135/4 Elmar for $190. Optically about 98% (? :)) of the latest greatest Leica 135/3.4 APO Telyt, weighs 400g, narrower and longer. Took a couple of snapshots with C3 and M9. No complaints. Don't leave home without it.
