I have a G3, going on a honeymoon to Kauai.

What lenses should I bring?

Thinking:
9-18mm
20mm f1.7
45mm f2.8
45-200?

What say you all?

Like your list but would vote for the 14-140 as a long lens. Tried the 45-200 for 2 months and got very marginal results at the long end. It's an economical lens but I think is a classic case of getting what you paid for. Enjoy Kauai it's a wonderful place!

You've pretty much got it covered. If you are going to do wildlife or birds I'd suggest 100-300.

I'm going in the new year. I'll be bringing the 9-18, 20, and 14-45. The only reason I would have for bringing the 45-200 is for whale photos but they're usually so far from shore that 200mm on m43 still isn't long enough. However, my wife always insists that I photograph whales when we see them, no matter how tiny they appear, so I may end up bringing it anyway.

The other problem is that my 45-200 isn't very impressive at the long end.

That's what I would bring too, especially the 9-18 if I owned one. I use my 45-200 quite a lot, but when I do it's for my kids outdoor sports. I'm pretty happy with it though, especially for the price. The only lens I never leave home without is the 20.

All you can carry? :) With m4/3 the limit is more what you can afford!

Take em all!

The wide and 3 primes together are about the same size as the 45-200mm, right? ;-)
It's a pretty good selection you have.

I have the 14-140mm which it's very good, quite flexible and convenient when traveling. The only real problem I find with it is when I want a longer lens for birds or whatnot, it never seems long enough. I've tried the 45-200mm and wasn't overly impressed.

If I were the OP, I'd be tempted to sell the 45-200mm and put that toward a 100-300mm, which would be much better for a nature-oriented trip.
Besides, his wife wants whale pictures and that would help get some!

All that stuff fits in a small bag, especially compared to a full frame DSLR kit. I can fit my m4/3 body, kit lens, 20mm f/1.7 pancake, and 7-14mm Lumix Vario in a ridiculously small bag compared to a full-on backpack if I take my D700 and lenses. Enjoy Hawaii and your honeymoon.

9-18 and 45, that's all. Aren't you on a honeymoon? Watch out so it won't be just you, a moon and no honey.
