Yes this is still one of my favorite digicams. Awkward and few settings. But it has a very fine optical VF although non focusing. And it is very very accurate. It has a very fine flash with a better than usual fixed Retanar lens. I did some light PP and cropped a bit and converted the image to a full sRGB. Yes I shoot this view whenever we are this far south. We are approx. 7 miles to Lee Vining from this site by automobile. This was a very fine day for the photographer this day. Hope you enjoy and are NOT bored with this view of Mono Lake on the North side. Thanks for viewing, Gary N W SFO Note-The fall colors are slow to appear this year once again. Used to see them in full color by this time of the year. But not for 2 years now. But when they do show WOW!

Another nice view of Mono Lake. This rendition has a very artistic feel to it the way the different contrasting colors contribute to the composition. Very pleasant to view.

Hi Gary, you are really nailing these outdoor landscape shots..very nice! I have been meaning to get up on 395 all summer, hopefully soon as I love the beauty of that area. The fall colors (like your photo shows) must be gorgeous this time of year. Be well.

This is a view that is even more fantastic everytime we stop here just to rest and see the sight. Once again proving these old Kodak digicams still have the stuff for nice images. And sort of a nice effect being a little softer on the landscape type images which I do most of the time.

Glad you enjoy the image.

Best Regards, Gary N W SFO

For 2010 and 2011 the fall colors have been coming in more slowly that they used to. So IF you do go you will do well by the end of Oct for best results. What worries me some is that You are becoming such a good photographic artist that you will make my stuff look bad! Seriously though you are doing really great with your latest images and honestly no one deserves it more than you!

Thanks very much for stopping by to view and comment on my images Jim when you are as busy as I know you to be. I am glad you enjoy my image. This lil ole Kodak is ideal for the softer more enjoyable minimalist type of landscape that I enjoy doing.

All the best and I DO hope you get up to 395 later this month or next for those lovely fall colors.

Thanks for viewing and commenting on my landscape shot of Mono Lake. I DO love it so up there in the high sierras. I am glad you enjoy the shot, too.

I agree with you 100% about the climate change, too. The question is IF it is truly done by humans or just another cycle in the earth-sun-moon environment along with the magnetic fields and tilting poles of our Mother Earth?

Cheers and all my best to You, Geoff,

Gary N W SFO
…that's climate change. We need to believe the evidence of our eyes. It's happening, and frankly, it horrifies me.

Cheers, geoff

Thanks a lot for viewing and please know that I do appreciate it very much. And Yes the little ole Kodak does take amazing pictures and is ideal for a softer but nicer type of landscape. It is why I still use it in certain areas of the high sierras when we are up there.

By the way I heard from Dancheng about your very nice get together in Toronto a while back. Very nice and he is a very very nice guy, too.

All my best to You and Your Family,

Gary N W SFO

Yes, about 9 months ago, thru the blog here in TKF, I'd learned that Dan had move to Canada and eventually we found out that he just live minutes to were I live. We went for a coffee and had a really nice talk. Then at spring time we went for a Spring photo session around the local area. And we are planning for a Autumn photo session this week end.
You are right, Dan is a very very nice guy.

Beautiful view of the high sierras, Gary. You did a fine job with your CX3700.
It reminds me of some scenarios that we have in Patagonia.

Thanks for stopping by to view my image & I am very glad you enjoy it. And yes so many years ago I visited Patagonia while I was doing work at my university here in California. It was an exchange student type thing.

I sure hope all is well with you down your way. I have enjoyed your images very much posted to this forum too. Keep up the great work.

Kind regards, Gary N W SFO

very nice scenery Gary, you see such beautiful places and capture them with a skill not many others can do with a P&S camera. Sometimes I like to put a heavy DSLR on your back :-) to make sure you get even better shots but then I think I'm myself is more than happy with what I get out of the P&S camera. It is rather the moment we see such beautiful sites we have the biggest high the photo is just a reminder of what our human eyes have seen (no DSLR is as good as the human eye :-) if you know what I mean).
All the best to you and Betty,
Siggi

I totally understand what you are saying. It is just @ my age and altitude here it has become very very hard for me to lug around my DSLR's anymore. Most of them were Canon as you well know. I still have one old Canon DSLR that I picked up for $100 US and works like a champ with the 18-55 kit lens. It is old but man it works just perfectly with stunning colors and sharpness. And it is only a 6mp at that. Nevertheless I still am just using my other Kodak and/fuji digicams for the mountain areas of the high sierras. They are simply working just pefectly for me.

And with altitudes up to and slightly above 11,000 ft above sea level just breathing can become a struggle for a few days until we both adjust to the higher altitude. And not to forget we are getting up their in age. So we just begin working out here at home and slowly try to get ourselves in the best shape possible in order to enjoy the high sierras.

Thanks so very much for your comments and support along with viewing my images. Please know how much I appreciate hearing from You.

All our best to You and Nicole,

I'm using my canon and pentax dslr lately for my works. I'll post my images here sometime.

But what i'm really miss is my C875, my z950 z1085 still can't beat it image quality.
