Please email to me FZ150 (fully dark, no incoming light allowed) RW2 test-shots recorded at Shutter-Time = 1/2.5 Seconds, and at ISO=100, ISO=200, ISO=400, and ISO=800 - so that FZ150 RW2-level Read/Dark Noise can be evaluated and directly compared to that of the FZ100, FZ35, FZ28, FZ50, FZ30, LX3, and LX5.

If you are interested in recording and providing these test-images, I will PM you an email address.

My FZ150 arrived an hour ago.
Will be having a good play later today.

Any requests to try something - let me know.
Yes.

1) Please confirm page 78 of the manual i.e. that you can shoot up to 100 full-res images with RAW+JPEG at 5.5 fps with AF & exposure changes.

2) Interested to know how well Intelligent Zoom works (didn't look great with the FZ100).
3) How bad is the EVF in low light? Usable? Tolerable?

4) High ISO RAW processed images would be nice to see... especially in low light

5) Interested to know how well HIGH DYNAMIC effect works, especially in scenes with wide dynamic range.

6) Anything else noteworthy e.g. AF tracking ability, high optical zoom modes using lower resolutions, and so on.

Thanks!

Why do you care? Aren't you getting a D3100?

At last, a real camera and a real user!

Please keep us posted as to your handling and shooting adventures. Particularly interested (along with everyone else) in IQ at low light, high ISO. First reactions without photos are just fine. When you get further along I'd like to hear how these shots hold up in print (at say 11x14 or larger).

Comparisons to FZ100 would be most useful (to me).

Thanks

And the most important question begs to be asked, where can i get one?

Simple one for you...can you confirm if you can disable the shot review after taking a photo? The Sony HX100 forced a 2-second review after each shot.

Yes, try sending it on to me. ;)

No other requests...I just expect it to do slightly better than the FZ100 in a majority of situations. Actually, if you have used the FZ100 I'd be interested to hear comparisons with that.

Even simpler. RTFM, Page 57:

[Auto Review] - "Set the length of time that the picture is displayed after taking the still picture"

[OFF]
[1SEC]
[2SEC]
[HOLD] - "The pictures are displayed until one of the buttons is pressed"

OK Guys, thanks for your interest and just to let you know.

I have set up a 'Forum' site on which I will put up some pictures I took earlier today, as well as other stuff as I discover it - such as my surprise when I noticed that my cheap £6 ebay clone battery was working both in showing battery life and operating sleep mode - which was not the case with the FZ100 I had.

It will be easier for me to keep track of things on the other forum as it will be specifically for Lumix bridge camera users, and interest has already been shown by 'companies' who may decide to sponsor the forum later. There are also a few other contacts who wish to 'chip in' with user reviews/comments as their cameras arrive.

I will post a new 'topic' here when I have set it in motion.

I have no 'dark room', but I'll try and have a go at this later tonight or over the weekend.
Thanks, peweuk ! I have used various methods to ensure that no light enters the outer lens of my cameras, then (manually) recorded the "dark-frame" test-shots in a semi-dark environment (where I can still see what I am doing.

The FZ50 was easy - just leave the lens-cap on. The LX3 outer lens assembly fits very nicely against the top of a plastic film-canister (allowing the blocking of light without contacting the outer lens-surface. The DMW-LA3 extension tube adapter for the FZ28 works like a champ for the purpose of allowing the end of the tube to be placed flush against an opaque surface.

Note that (when recording the RW2 test-shots), the Focus and F-Number are irrelevant. Getting the ISO Sensitivity and the Shutter-Time (0.4 Seconds) right is all that matters. ISO Sensitivity Gain = 100, 200, 400, 800, and 1600.

I have PMed you an email address where you can send the RW2 files (one as an attachment to one individual email each). Thanks again ! This will contribute to a truly objective knowledge-base !

Additional notes :

Be sure that "i-Zoom" is disabled (as it can result in a smaller than full pixel-sized RW2 being created in the camera and sent along to the Lightroom 3.41 that will be used to conduct the tests).

Adjust the on-camera NR control to a minimum valued setting (just in case Panasonic is employing RW2-level Noise Reduction in the FZ150).

The rest of the on-camera controls should not affect the RW2 output whatsoever.

Seems a bit harsh!
Are you judging the camera, photographer, or both?

Photographer needs to slow down, take a few deep breaths, read the manual, try again. Then we'll all have a better idea of what this camera can do.

If you happen to have a Panasonic compatible intervalometer, I would be very curious as to if that works well with your new camera.

Also indoors images are also helpful with mention of what kind of lighting is present, incandescent, daylight florescent, etc.

My biggest request is just to relax and have fun with your new tool/toy. It takes several days to get a feel for the strength and weaknesses of such a complicated device. Sometimes one strength is enough to pay for the purchase.

The older EX-FH 100 has made a lot of golfers very happy with its high speed video functions. Surpassing the newer version EX-ZR 100.
