Thank you all for the excellent entries, it was very hard to even choose the top 5 shots let alone the placement of the winners!

Honorable mentions:

Avyman:

Brightcolours:

DKBaker:

Edward In Toronto:

guinness2:

Kevindar:

leroyvanhee:

lewynn:

thiennguyen:

As per the newly suggested rules I'll choose 5 winners, which are:

5th place goes to Jacek Dolota with the amazing tree with spraying water as background makes for a very dynamic yet mysterious shot. I love the B/W conversion which adds to the shot. The tree seems to stand wrong side up with the tree roots at the top and maybe that's how they're supposed to grow in this world :)

4th place for TimTheOya with the bean in Chicago, a sight I will have to inspect myself one day. Because of the vignette, the underexposed lower part and the mind bending reflection, the bird floating on the wind it makes for a surreal image.

3rd place goes to Shutterbug Nut, excellent expression and scene captured here with a strong composition placing the boat in the center and the captain on one of the vertical third line. The question raises what he's pointing at and why he is so excited. The purple umbrella contrasts with the blues and reds of the boat. Excellent little world!

2nd place Greg1701, a very mysterious image that seems like a UFO with a spirit floating above it. The nightly skyline and wavey sea adds to the atmosphere. I'm sure this is perfectly normal in this world you show here :)

The winning shot this time goes to (drum roll) IronMan! I kept coming back to this shot. A lot of effort went into editing in the stone golems that are locked into a martial combat. The dynamics and speed of the human body enhanced by martial arts training strifes with the solidness and rigidity of stone in a good way. The viewer is being put on the wrong track by the seemingly peaceful sea scene. As if the fighters portray the battle of the tides between water and land twice a day.

Congrats! The next challenge is for you IronMike! I'm looking forward to what subject you'll come up with!

Fun challenge, Imqqmi. Thanks for the HM! Kinda seems fitting that you were the host of the milestone 300th MC.

Congrats to the winners (I see there are five now) and other HMs. Cool photo IronMan. Looking forward to your challenge.

Congrats to the winners!

Really enjoyed looking at the images in this challenge. Kevindar's droplets were my favourite this time.

Hi, thanks for the H.M. ! :-)
Interesting topic and lot of inspirative pics / approaches.

for the 2nd place... who knew that giant flashlight was destined for such great things? :)

Wow, I can't believe I actually won one of these. I feel like around here you guy's/gals are the real giants, and I'm just happy to be inspired by the amazing work you do...

This shot (composite?) started out with me trying to learn how to use the pen tool for making selections in CS5.5, and these statues seemed like an ideal practice (lots of curves and corners with flat, even edges). While I'm pretty familiar with Lightroom, I've only had Photoshop since this past June (I get the educational discount) and I'm impressed with a lot of the features. Content aware fill and the power of layers and masks are great!

Anyways, thanks for the win Imqqmi, and I'll try to post a new challenge later on tonight...

P.S. Congrats to the other winners/HMs, I really liked many of the other posted shots...

Mike

Thanks for the 4th place :)

I really do strongly recommend the bean to anyone that has a chance to see it. Photographs really don't do it justice

Another great challenge, with many creative entries. Enjoyed them all. Congratulations to all the winners and HMs. Hope I'll have time to enter the next one. :)
