g3 and my new olympus 45mm f1.8 lens portraits

Lovely, would these shots and the level of bokeh be possible with the 25 1.4?

Yes, I still have no clue about the lens. Next time, take another model so we can concentrate on what this is all about! :-)

I agree, nice model.

Quick question though, what are your settings? I only have the humble E-PL1 yet I don't have this amount of noise in my images! Your ISO160 shots looks more like they were shot at ISO1600!

Paul.

Just to show a comparison here is an ISO1250 shot straight out of the camera with the E-PL1 with the noise filter off.

Nice :) May I ask what kind of focus mode you are using? Did it manage to focus correctly every single time? My 45mm is now on its way from Asia.

Thanks for posting, by the way.

Try to click the full resolution P1010336 jpg and you can see skin pores on her nose. That is how sharp it is wide open!

i used face detection for all of my focusing and 100% of my 145 photos were in focus. this lens has greater reliability of focusing than my olympus 50mm f2.

great for the most part. Good model, cute poses, creative use of DOF control.

Second shot is ruined by distrating background. What is that black thing behind her head! Maybe you can remove it in photoshop?

Last shot has that darn leaf right in front of her! Otherwise, that is a great shot, great pose, etc.

Please take some more and post them for us!

Great shoots. I am looking for a MFT camera and the G3 really interests me. I am not sure if the skin tones are off? I thought the G3 was better for OOC skin tones.

I agree with Tedolf about the distracting things. I am kind of new to portraits and always trying to learn. These are great pics but the first thing that caught my eye in pic 1 was the shoes. Not her face. I would take the shoes off or find a clean looking pair. It looks like dirt or mud. Very detracting. I am not trying to offend this is just what caught my eye.

Cheers. That is a sharp lens and everything in general looks great.

seems ok. not up to par with the top 85/1.4 portrait primes from teh other makers.. the colour and contrast is really ho hum, bokeh is meh

i want to thank everyone for the constructive criticism and the praise.
