Reading through various posts on this forum, there are a LOT of users complaining that M4/3 system doesn't have enough lenses, well, not compared to APS-C DSLR's.

Well, can please somebody tell me, where are the prime lenses for DSLR's from Nikon and Canon? Like portrait prime, wide angle prime?

Now, there is full prime lens system in M4/3, one that Leica users have used for decades:
15 mm F3.5 (fisheye)
16 mm F3.5 (fisheye)
24 mm F2.0
28 mm F2.5
34 mm F2.8
40 mm F1.7
50 mm F1.4
50 mm F0.95
90 mm F1.8
90 mm F2.8 macro

Can you make the same list WITH PRIME GLASS MADE FOR APS-C DSLR's? There is none, even if they had 10 years more to develop... So prime lens wise, this is one of the best systems on the market!

I'm not sure why you think it's unique to m4/3... I'm not well versed in all manufacturers lenses, but I know the two systems I shoot (Leica and Pentax) could easily accommodate that list... and then some, and go both wider and longer.

Don't get me wrong, I think there's an okay selection of lenses for m4/3 considering the short time it's been around, however, you're barking up the wrong tree to think it beats other manufacturers and formats when it comes to lens choice.

Divide the focal length by 2 and you might find them more easily. The OP listed 35mm equivalents.

The OP used the equivalent full frame focal lengths...for example, the 40mm f/1.7 is really the 20 mm f/1.7 Divide by 2 and everything will fall into place.

I was talking about prime lenses MADE ESPECIALLY FOR APS-C! Considering the short time for development, M4/3 is not only close to APS-C systems, but in some cases, better :) Of course, half a century of development of lenses makes the Canonikon list full of them, but my point was that THERE IS NO REASON IN COMPLAINING FOR SHORTAGE OF LENSES ;)

For example, I am a street shooter, and if I buy a Nikon APS-C DSLR, I don't have 24 equiv. fast prime (made for DX), or 85-09 portrait... You only have the 35 mm F1.8... M4/3 has 40 mm, 50 mm, 24, 28...

Yes, they are in FF equiv. Sorry for that, I thought it would be easier to compare lenses from different systems with different sized sensors

EF 14mm f/2.8L USM**
EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye
EF 20mm f/2.8 USM**
EF 24mm f/1.4L USM**
EF 24mm f/2.8
EF 28mm f/1.8 USM**
EF 28mm f/2.8
EF 35mmm f/1.4L USM**
EF 35mm f/2
EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
EF 50mm f/1.8 II
EF 85mm f/1.2L USM
EF 85mm f/1.8 USM...
And where is that 24 equiv. for APS-C? Or, let's say 85 mm? Or even 28 mm equiv? There is none, neither in the Canon, nor Nikon system. Almost all of the lenses you listed were meant for use on Full Frame sensor, not on APS-C. Like the fish eyes, they wouldn't have the same angle of view on APS-C, would they?

I know what you are saying and I agree in general but...well...you just happen to shoot with the two systems that have an overflowing abundance of primes compared to any other systems ;)

Pentax is known for their prime lenses (compared to Canon/Nikon) and Leica...well, considering their cameras are rangefinders...err...it's not like they have a choice of making a prime or zoom lenses so of course their selection is huge ;)
I'm not sure why you think it's unique to m4/3... I'm not well versed in all manufacturers lenses, but I know the two systems I shoot (Leica and Pentax) could easily accommodate that list... and then some, and go both wider and longer.

I assume that by "for APS-C" you mean EF-S as opposed to EF. But since EF lenses mount fine, what's the big deal? EF-S seems to be limited to zooms, though I've heard some of those zooms are good enough to make primes in the same range unnecessary. No personal experience though.

I don't say that there are not lenses in the Canonikon arsenal, but prime wise, M4/3 is with the front runners (like Pentax)... The post was to remind the people talking daily that M4/3 doesn't have enough lenses

Dude! You are really grasping at straws here aren't you!

14mm -> 22.4mm, if you need 24mm exactly crop a little with your higher resolution and cleaner image and you are there.

If you want 28, either crop further from the 14mm and still beat m43 or live with a 32mm eq. from the 20.

Who cares if you are using lenses that are good for FF too???

The post was not for attacking other systems, just to answer the critics that say M4/3 doesn't have enough lenses, so sorry guys if you missed my point... Maybe i was a little more offensive...
