It is liberating not having to carry the 5D all the time. Extremely pleased with image quality and the experience of shooting with the X100.

Some pics taken the last couple of months:

Thanks for looking and have a nice weekend :)

I spent three weeks in Italy this summer, leaving behing my Nikon D3X and a few heavy lenses. Instead, I got myself a Fuji X100 and challenged myself with a fixed lens rangefinder camera. Despite its flaws (slow reactivity, more than perfectible AF, etc. ), I found it really fun to use for street photography like this one above. Reminds me of Comics´ characters : spontaneous, cheeky, a little off balance

Man, I love that #7 shot !

And all the rest btw, there is "something" on those shots, not only X100 ... :-)

Good work

Nice shot! This cam is the special one, challenging but rewarding :)

Thank you so much... #7 is shot 700+ meters above sea level, in Northern Norway. I was alone on a trip for four days in the mountains. Definately one of my favorite trout lakes ;)

Just curious ... what was your approximate distance from the subject in each of photos 1, 3 and 4. I am trying to get a better feel shooting with the camera.

Thanks.

Like you, more often than not, I leave my DSLR (Sony A850) at home.

Hm.... wild guess: 2,5 meters, 70 cm and 2,5 meters. I really don´t know :) Thanks for commenting!

Hmmm... maybe not 70 cm... probably around 50. I´m sorry :)

Thanks for taking the time to answer regarding the distance. I love what can be done with this camera, but I am trying to determine if my shooting style will work with the fixed 35mm. Very nice photos.

You're welcome! 35mm is my favorite focal lenght on the 5D, so the X100 became i natural choice for me. In my opinion 35mm is a perfect FL - not too wide, not too narrow :)

I had set aside some money on the "camera account". The choice was between 35mm 1.4 for the 5D or the X100. I have no regrets :)

Thank you :)

I´m not post processing my photos very much. The in-camera JPEGS are beautiful, especially the Astia simulation. In the beginning I did shoot JPG only, but RAWs gives a little more headroom. I'm trying to be familiar with X100s raws right now, and I really like the results.

1: JPG, Astia. Converted to B&W + Crop in Lightroom

2: RAW processed in RPP (Raw Photo Processor). Crop + USM in Photoshop.

3. Jpeg, Astia. Auto white balance in Lightroom. Everything else SOOC.

4. JPEG, Astia. Auto white balance + vignette in Lightroom.

5. Raw processed in RPP. Astia film mode. Crop + USM in Photoshop.

6. Raw processed in RPP. Velvia film. USM in Photoshop.

7. Jpeg + Velvia. Graduated filter in Lightroom to make the top a little darker, and closer to what I saw.

8. Panorama in cam (JPG). Velvia film. Graduated filter for a little more clarity in the sky.

Thanks for asking! :)
