DPR added 5N images to the studio (as can be seen in EPL3 review) but never informed anybody about that :)

certainly noise is lower, resolution is higher .. but you get a clicking sound with video free with that.. ;)

Nex 5 is darn cheap now on fleabay.. unbelievable that people tend to sell them asap now so it seems..

Why not with the kit zoom lens?

Comparing the a580 to the 5N

From the RAW images, the 5N seem to have a little better sharpness at all ISOs. High ISO noise performance is about the same but I think the s580 has a slight edge in terms of colour noise and slightly finer grain. 5N also has more moire which leads me to believe that it is using a lighter anti-aliasing filter but probably the same sensor.

JPG output: 5N has much more sharpening applied. There are some sharpening arfitacts and halos but overall, it's an excellent sharpening algorithm.

IMO: certainly not a D7000 killer like people are reporting and not up to the quality of the 5DII at any ISOs.

When comparing a camera's IQ you should use the same lens on all camerras, that is not possible, so you use the same type of lens. When you have a very good camera, but with a bad kit lens, people comparing the lens IQ not the camera IQ. The lens is swappable, the sensor not...

No advantage over nex-5 at all.....
what drugs are u on lol :) ...

here all i marked down the areas that counts..

look at the jpeg how even in iso 1600 such a minute detail has not been ruined like the lines on the pink tiny rope..or the clippers how defined are they ..

when going to raw there is less of a difference between the nex5n to the A580 but its still there....also look how much better it is than the A900 samples ...to think the A77 compared to the A900 as at least the same level..the nex5N puts it to shame.

oh..look how bad are the best of the 4/3 at that high iso.

Not a D7000 killer or equal to the 5D MarkII? Check out ISO 12800 on the "High ISO" comparison. Looks like the 5N is easily superior to the D7000 at high ISO's. Try it on the photo of the girls eyes and the dime. Amazing.
