Tom,
Michael Schoenfeld here
I've been out; sorry for delay in responding.
I know I have a limit of about 20k for each year to expense out completely; My understanding (and remember, I make my money taking pictures; my accountant makes their money helping me to legally avoid overpaying my tax burden), is that I have to pay for AND take delivery in the same year that I expense the item.
What that means is no, you are wrong, it's not about image quality; I do trust Kodak to deliver a professionally acceptable item when they do; I do not dispute their ability to build quality kit; It's about $$$ and taxes right now; If they do not deliver a widget to my dealer by 12.31.02, I cannot write that amount off for a 14n camera.
I'll use it for something else; and I'll then wait for whatever is best "WHEN IT'S BEST", according to how I expense digital gear. Kodak MIGHT (My sky is not falling - can't say for sure weather I'll buy 14n or not) miss my business's "interest window" (new techno-geek speak I've just coined).
All the best,
