I wanted to let everyone know that I attended the Epson Academy and it was great, I learned a lot about printing, but really the photoshop techniques were exellent, and the photographers videos were inspiring and excellent, the best money I have spent so far.

I had the same reaction when I attended a few weeks ago. I'm an advanced amateur, long-time 35mm photographer and a novice digital-camera and digital-darkroom person. Besides the top-notch Photoshop techniques that also were on the CD Epson included with the workshop, I found the discussions about work flow from both the in-person pro who conducted the workshop and the pros on the videos to be most enlightening and helpful. It's pretty clear to me that work flow is a large issue for anyone of any level who plans to do much digital darkroom work.

On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 1 being absolute beginner and 10 being professional photographer) I'd say the session was aimed at people with a 3-to-6 level of experience.

Can you tell me where to find out more information on this course? I looked at Epson's website and it wasn't immediately available.

Thanks.

Here's where it is: http://www.epsonprintacademy.com/ . Hope you enjoy it.

It's pretty hard to go wrong moneywise. For your $40 (if you register early), you get a nicer-than-usual continental breakfast, more of the same at break time, and a bag with a couple of CDs that cover much of the course content, a 20-sheet package of premium glossy photo paper, a really nice ballpoint pen that should last years and is the only one of its kind I've ever seen, a cap, a photo album and perhaps some little stuff I have forgotten.

Get there early so you can get a seat toward the front with a good view of the screen. The session I attended had 300-plus folks packed into a large conference room, and half the seats probably had poor views.
