Ok, it's a turtle. Shot a couple hours ago while canoeing the river w/ 300mm 2.8 non VR & Kenko TC14.

Thanks,

Lovely colourful picture.

Wow, that is some shot. Your lens is superb. I'd be scared with that kind of gear
in a canoe. Thanks for sharing.

Hans,

You mean you wouldn't take all this gear with you? You know that all that gear balances the canoe rather nicely.

Thanks,

H

Hi Hustus, another one who enjoyed the image. Serene and very nice like said above.

I don’t know the whole frame but I’d add some small space to the left side if it looked good. Just feel a touch more of the environment would do good here.

Thanks for sharing,

Hynek

Gale et al,

I totally agree about timing etc., etc., and it lends itself to the fact that the more you get out the more captures you get. They need not be great but good is better than nothing.

Just a second after I made that shot the turtle disappeared into the water. I go out to just enjoy the tranquility of the river so anything I capture with my camera is a bonus. I've said this before and it's worth repeating that I take pictures of places I go and not go to places to take pictures. That insures a win win experience every time!

CRiddell: Nice shot of the very elusive beaver. I've spent over 30 summers in northern Minnesota and have but a couple decent shots of beavers.

Thanks,

H

Thanks,

I also enjoy my canoeing here in eastern Australia and there is plenty of wildlife
around. Your work inspired me somewhat to get my 'better gear' into the boat
and give it a try. Cheers, Hans

Hans, I think any waterway is a haven for wildlife and literally brings you directly into the home of these wonderful animals in a way that is not possible on land. I'm often asked about the risk in taking my gear there but the real issue is owning such equipment and not using it! Such a waste of money I think. I hope to see your work soon.

Great shot of a Red-Earred Slider. My daughter has a couple females. One 20 months old and another 10 year plus. Her younger one has white stripes instead of yellow ones in your picture. The older one has muted colors except the red ears.

Great shots.......

I love this capture Hustus! Brilliant colors and sharpness and possition. The only thing I might do is dodge the far right side of his shell to balance it with the rest of the shell. Well done!!!

cheers,

Ray
