Minolta.com's Photo of the Week 7i

Hello,

I just wanted to share with the group that I was lucky enough to
win Minolta.com’s Photo of the Week, using my Dimage 7i.

So, if anyone gives ya any guff about going digital, or tells you
that digital can’t compete with Film… here ya go…

Great picture anthony. Congratulations. I've added it to my favourites.
Did you use close up lenses? What were your settings?
Congratulations again.

That's a fantastic macro shot with wonderfully contrasting colours! A most deserving winner. Well done!!

Hi,

Thanks for the complements.

As far as the settings went… I was in VIVID color, color saturation +3, contrast 0, ISO 100 (those are most often my usual settings)

No close up lens on this one, just the 7i set to 200mm macro.

No much cropping either, I cropped it a little bit… just to zoom in slightly and correct for a little off-centerness.

Thanks again,
Anthony

Congrats. A rewarding accomplishment. I along with many others here, I'm sure, have just submitted my best photo. :-)

Anthony,

Congratulations! What a wonderful picture! The minolta comments were right on, great colors + wonderful use of DOF.

Unfortunately, digital cannot compete with traditional film (at least at the actual situation, maybe in a not near future).

100 years of research and development in traditional film processing cannot be canceled by few years of digital enthusiasm.

I am an happy owner of a 7i, but when sometimes I see my Velvia slides taken with Nikon 20mm or 80-200 IF-ED, I cannot say: they are the same. I am objective (or at least I think so). The comparison digital-film is becoming a sort of religion war, I don't want so.

Nice Photo, Anthony and thanks for bringing my attention to Minolta Photo of the week. I have submitted a couple of my own photos. There doesn't seem to have been any F100 winners so we will see how it goes.
