A familiar site, our local coffee shop, sells Christmas trees. It just reminds me of how it used to be. A little neighborhood place that doesn't lock up their trees at night. The owner (my next door neighbor) cuts the trees in-between making his caffeine concoctions.

We started a hopeful new family tradition this year. I've always loved those paintings of families dragging their trees home on a sled. So Nostalgic. Anyway, I was hoping for some beautiful flakes and a foot on the ground, but instead we had to settle for ice crust and grass. Oh well, we had a fun day anyway....

Happy Holidays!

What year is this?

Waiting to be taken...

Daddy! I want THIS one!

Absolutely stunning Shutter! A pictorial of feel good and family sharing photos. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Loved the use of sepia to give that real bygone era effect. I felt like I was almost there. Your daughter is so cute and very photogenic. I'd bet she is the subject of a lot of your photos.

I love the last pic with your daughter. The framing I think instills the sense of how big that tree is that she wants! very nice :-)

Enjoyed the series, Jim, esp the second one, with the nice use of added noise.

Very poignant and nostalgic photos...sometimes i wish i were a dad, then i think about and say nevermind...But clearly fatherhood fits you well...got to love the fun activities you fathers get to do with your kids and Christmas time with kids has such a special meaning...Maybe i should become a daddy after all....nevermind ;-)

Jim, this is wonderful... thanks for sharing. I like #3 best. What a beautiful child -- but couldn't help but smile that even the family dogs were involved in this :)

lol. Hi Jim, wonderful series, I especially liked the 1st and the 3rd one of your daughter. Now seeing your dogs I understand why you were out in the weather, but don't they tend to lead you about? :-))
These are "timeless" photos that can work for any generation.

Merry Christmas

Thanks Koala!

I like the "feel good" comment! I enjoy sharing my little excursions. I wasn't too consistent in the processing look, but they all told me something different. Thanks for your nice comment about Bergen. She is learning to quite dislike the camera. lol

Thanks again,

Jim

Minneapolis. I guess that's broad enough... ;-)

There isn't much he can do without any storage place. It's kind of a cross your fingers approach.

Thanks for the comments!

Jim
Thanks shutter! Really nice. Whereabouts do you live (that he
doesn't lock up his trees!)? : )

Thanks Gary,

The funny thing was that tree belonged in the land of misfit toys. The top was mangled and the back was bare. lol It was set off to the side as a "not to sell", but it was the first one she saw when she walked out the door. haha

Thanks E,

And no added noise in the second one, just ISO 400 as it was the dark side of the building.

And I AM going to get to your email..... :-) sorry so slow...

Thanks Peggy,

The dogs were a big part of the plan, only with snow!! But I need a bigger sled next year! The tree got a little, umm... bare on one side during the ride home. :-)

Oh, and you don't want your cats to get in the way of my puppies either. They are the friendliest dogs I have ever known, but they like to play a little "rough" with cats. Don't ask... :-~

Thanks for your comment!
