Hi.

I am from Norway and yesterday I was out, trying to catch one of these dragonflies in the air. I am actually pretty satisfied with the result!
It is the Aeschna juncea.

I use my E-5, the 70-300mm! I am quite impressed of this lens! It is not an expensive one!
It was taken on F5.0, 1/2500, 200mm and iso 400.

There he goes. One of God’s own prototypes. Some kind of high-powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, too rare to die.

I've tried this and it's very challenging, but your shots are incredible.

Strong work.

I'm regularly having some hunting problems with this lens so i'm interested in the settings you used, so:

What were your settings to focus (manual focus, auto focus, continuous auto focus, narrow point)?
BR,
Henk

Hi.

I used auto focus, narrow point, focusing on the center point. I supposed it would have been even better to use all points, but I am not sure. If the weather is getting better, I will have another try, and try more focus points.

Very good...they must be slowing down a bit with cooler temps.....

Really good captures,

WOWEE!!! How fast do you have to be to get those? I would love to capture some dragonflies I've seen around my house like that.

Are you using flash?

Excellent work.

Am really impressed; these are beautiful and razor sharp; how did you ever manage to lock focus on something this small and fast moving? I think this is the first time that I have ever seen a pic of one of these in flight. Kudos!!!

impressive shots!!! you should be proud of yourself. Thanks for posting and keep shooting!

Very impressive photography. Were all the photos on your web site taken with this combo? What PP technique did you use?

Hi Marcelo.

I used no flash. It was afternoon, varm sunlight, F 5.0 and 1/2500 s.
Iso 400 and one focus point, auto fokus.

:-)

Hi.

I have between 4000 - 5000 pictures on my web-site, and they are taken with a lot of combinations, but all pictures are taken with Olympus.
From my early start in 2003 with C5050, and now E-5.
This year E-5 has been used, and before that E-3.
