More XZ-1 macros

I like the last one - even with the artificially added drops ;)

The background drops arent necessary (but I suppose they're there to balance the drops in the front). The larger drop in front - is that a bit of sky reflection? nice. And to the right, the drops magnify the leaf surface.

Nice leaf texture and good lighting.

Well done.

Indeed, very well done. Your images show a crispness that I don't often see on this forum. What was your shooting and processing flow? RAW? What sort of post processing? It looks like you've nailed the sharpening parameters for this camera and these size images.

Very good indeed!!

I was wondering the about your processing as well. I'm not sure, but it seems that you have used USM on post, and just a touch too much for my taste. The image with just the water drops, and brown background seems to have the kind of grain that comes with sharpening. This doesn't detract from the images too much overall, but I think they might have been stronger with a more natural look. Most P&S, even a great one like the XZ-1 have a very consumer friendly, crisp look to the images, and often don't need as much post as say DSLR images. Anyway, I've been enjoying my XZ-1 a lot and enjoyed seeing some other images from the camera.

Thank you all for the kind replys.

I have indeed been using USM on these, I start with a full size image the crop if needed, then levels, then usm and then resize and usm once more.

The second picture is a bit grainy and perhaps I overdid it, but I think the mail reason is that this is a smaller crop from a full size picture, so I am pushing the envelope here.

I need to have another look at the pp as the shots from the XZ-1 are a lot sharper direct from the camera than from my Canon 400D.

All shots are jpg, I rarely use raw as I find i difficult to import directly into PSE.

Final note I'd like to add that no drops were artificiallly added in these shots, they are all as I found them, also no drops were harmed during the production of these shots :-)

Those are pretty. I like to take pictures of plants and flowers with raindrops also.

Excellent shots, all, but the second is my very favorite. Very well done, indeed!

Very nice images! I think super macro is one of the best features of the XZ-1, especially when teamed up with the f/1.8 aperture. Keep 'em coming...

Some stunning images but it would be great if you could include the EXIF data in your images as it would really help all those who are working to improve their own macro work

Your shots are almost unbelievable from a P&S. Are these at the wide or long end of the lens ? and wide open ? You really make me want to get this cam ! (or the Fuji X10...any opinion ? thx bud.
