E-PL3 camera pictures vs. E-p3 and GF3

this is wierd!

Why do you have all those different brand new cameras?

Let me guess: you are 32 years old and live in the basement of your mom's house?
That'd be ironic given the OP's difficulties in acheiving focus in dim settings.

BTW, I have a feeling this thread is about to be Memory Holed. Much easier for photo perzon to Complain than post a photo of his notional gear. Pardon me, I need to finish waxing my Veyron.

Obviously he has a sickness for owning gear in an obsessive compulsive way. Lots of folks on here including myself can understand it but few are as bad as he is. If he doesn't own them all maybe his family or someone he knows owns a camera store or something.. could be he opens em up, shows off online then packs em back for sale later.

Either way, lives at mom's home in the basement or pretends to own a lot of stuff he doesn't-sounds to me like someone we should listen to!

Do you have any idea how to take a photo ?

This is the most useless bit of meaningless info about these cameras possible. Who cares that there is a .13 inch difference in one dimension ??

Do you really think that people interested in these cameras and that can't get their hands on them yet really care about that measurement ??

Why can't you talk about the handling, control layout, how it feels in hand with different lenses etc ??

Did you notice the post that myself and Ray wrote on the EP3 vs the EPL3 ?? Stuff about what its actually like to shoot with them.

Things that people would care about, such as if there is a difference between the OLED and the LCD in bright sun.

If you actually picked up camera and took some photos you might understand how those are the things that matter.

I don't care about .13 inches,I care about if I can see the display in the sun.

You've been though tens of thousands of dollars worth of gear and yet then have post that lack any basic knowledge

You post comparison shots that are just awful, so full of mistakes and this stuff isn't hard.

Why not just stick with whatever camera you've got and learn how it works, see what its like taking a photo with it ?

I've been though lots of cameras myself, but I actually take them out and use them.

You seem to just enjoy getting the camera and never do a single thing with them, its just weird.

They should call you camera person instead of photo person because you like cameras, not photographs
E-PL3 feels the same quality as E-P3

Screen in the back is really just as pleasant as the E-p3, smaller but with one push of the magnifying glass button, the same

E-PL3 is smaller than E-P3. A little larger and thicker than GF3, but it will fit in the same case.

From pictures the difference with between E-PL3 and the E-PM1 is .13 inches due to the screen and 1.7 ounces weight.

When I turn on the E-PL3 it clicks like taking a picture. The E-P3 does not click when turned on.

Though much smaller, the E-PL3 is only 2 ounces lighter than E-P3 and it feels denser, like more weight per cubic inch...in other words it feels solid. The GF3 feels less dense, more toyish.

Or, it's all a sham based on reviews, press releases, and the observations of actual owners. I think that's far more likely.

I'll quite cheerfully retract my accusation of shindiggery if PP is forthcoming with what should be very easy for him to obtain. A timely photo of all his current gear would seem a simple request. Identifying the linked Flickr photos as his own would be another step. For example, if someone doubted that I really hiked the Beamer Trail in Grand Canyon NP, I could quickly post photos from the trail, and give personal observations from my trip. I could identify my campsites, special terrain features, and possibly even post my GPS track. If that wasn't enough to verify my claim, so be it, but that's a far cry from PP's "creepy" post.

To date, all I've seen from PP is some observations about a wide range of gear that appears to be beyond his level of technical knowledge, and those observations could easily be based on reviews, press releases, and the observations of actual owners. At most, I think PP may have actually touched some of his claimed cameras at a sales counter, but I doubt even that applies to many of "his" cameras.

Hey now, where else are you going to get useful nuggets like

"From pictures the difference with between E-PL3 and the E-PM1 is .13 inches due to the screen and 1.7 ounces weight.

or

When I turn on the E-PL3 it clicks like taking a picture. The E-P3 does not click when turned on."

Thats priceless info. Myself and Ray Sachs wrote a few paragraphs about how the camera feels in hand, if the lack of controls made a difference in real world shooting, if the OLED was different than the LCD in bright sunlight, how useful the tilting display was etc, but I mean we both totally missed the boat in those all important tenths of inches differences.

I mean come on, anyone who actually takes pictures can talk about the actual usage and handling, but only a true photo person can sit around with the micrometer and give us the important facts
Either way, lives at mom's home in the basement or pretends to own a lot of stuff he doesn't-sounds to me like someone we should listen to!

Or, PP owns very little of the gear he claims. Seems a much more likely scenario to me. Maybe he's busy piling up gear for a photo shoot to shut me up, but I seriously doubt it.

IIRC, no one doubted you or Ray had actually used those cameras, either.

Hmmm, seems those weights and dimensions are readily available for anyone to examine, even from a basement, without the cameras in hand.

Nice car! Can you post some pics of that and your other cars? LMAO
I think it is creepy to be obsessed with what "assets you have" when you are talking and asking a stranger. What [cars] I have is my business.

Please get off my case about it already. I don't ask you what [cameras] or anything else you have, it is not proper.

My post was by the way positive and yielded positive information. It does not criticize.

So let's get with the positive program people.

And we're still waiting for the money shot of Photo Perzon's Menagerie of Fine Photographic Wares .

Funny, but I see a photo of a dog, with nary a bit of any of this gear in the shot:
http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1041&message=39198124

I'll let others judge if that's a good representation of what a $2700 body + $1000 lens should deliver.

Is that menagerie photo forthcoming in a timely fashion? If it'll help motivate you to take this simple step, I'll post a photo of my camera gear in a few minutes. What's good for the goose ...

If not, I stand by my assertion that you're a fake.

I apologize for the image quality, as I know my old Canon SD800 can't live up to the mass of modern marvels surrounding our friend. One hour later:

Let's see...
  • Olympus E-PL1 + VF-2 + Panasonic 20 (on 100-300 hood)
  • Olympus 9-18
  • Olympus 14-42 MkI
  • Panasonic 45-200
  • Panasonic 100-300
  • Promaster SystemPRO T525P Carbon Fiber Tripod
  • Ortlieb Aqua Zoom all-weather bag
  • ThinkTank Digital Holster 10 v2.0 bag

I'd say that's a pretty solid timestamp.

That was fun!
And it wasn't hard!

photo perzon , if you don't have a lens wide enough to cover your entire menagerie, I suppose a two-shot panorama would suffice. Hard to believe you'd have to resort to such measures, but this would be an extreme shot, after all.

It looks like the dog is thinking, "What's that thing you are pointing at me? Haven't seen one of those before."

Fully agreed here. OP started with some harmless, factual statements and gets a whole load of snide, off-topic replies. Why's that?

I know envy from my local area, but haven't seen it so far on these pages. Now i did.
Do you also harrass other people who post about assumedly expensive gear?

By making bold assertions about the abilities of equipment, and constantly bringing attention to the equipment he "owns" and "tests", the OP has brought the veracity of his ownership and technical prowess into play. This is about credibility, not, in any way, envy. That's preposterous.

I handled a EP3 recently in a camera store and was surprised at how light and flimsy it felt compared to my sons EP1

h2k , if this was about an isolated thread, I'd completely agree with you, and I never would've bothered. I suggest you take a look at those links I posted to just some of PP's claimed gear, and look at the content of PP's posts with respect to that gear. I don't know what motivated PP to do all that, and I don't really care, but I don't like being lied to repeatedly. BTW, the list I compiled is hardly "assumedly expensive gear"; it most definitely IS an expensive list by most anyone's standards.

All I ask is either photo perzon give some proof of ownership of that huge list of gear, or stop the nonsense. As I demonstrated, it should be very easy to confirm ownership. There's nothing wrong with owning all of that, or none of it, or just a bit of it. Not a hint of envy from me, as I'm quite content with my little bag of m43 gear. It's PP's money, not mine. There's also nothing wrong with owning every single piece of that gear and still being a very bad photographer that makes posts of dubious value. That statement could apply to me as well.

It's the lying that bothers me.
