So, I thought I calibrated my monitor, but my actual output is duller than the screen, this just started happening, was fine previously, any thoughts.

thanks,

Rob

More than likely, your monitor is set to bright giving you a "false sense" of pop.

Recalibrate your monitor with a luminance setting between 80 and 120.

If you're doing this on a laptop, this might be more difficult.

Obviously, this assumes that Photoshop is controlling the print process and that you've selected the correct print / paper profile.

thanks for your message, thought I had done all this, I'll check again, the main thing is that I was getting good results and now I'm not, trying to figure out what might have changed, a bit frustrating

You haven't stated if you are using PC or Mac. If it is PC with NVidia graphics the problem might be related to the card. Try to google it out - NVidia's at a times "forget" to use proper monitor profile.

Interesting. I have n NVIDIA card and haven't had any issues. I use a ColorMunki for calibration of my monitor and my printer.

hmm, I have an nvidia adapter, I'll check on this, I use spyder3 for calibration,
and its a pc platform,

thanks,

Rob

Make sure that either PhotoShop or Lightroom is controlling the color and that the printer is not. It is easy to get out of sync. Your software can then use the profiles that have been generated.

For those with NVidia's GPUs and drivers:

I am about to pull trigger on external monitor to connect it to my laptop, and since inside I have QuadroFX I am wondering how will it work with caibration and profile.
I do not like what I read among the others in the linked forum.
