Why can't we have all the features/EVF/LCD with a 16MP-Sensor?
Sony should give us a 12MP-16MP camera with less noise.
I am ready to pay the same price as for an A77!
Am I the only one in this regard?

Not to worry: The A77 can be set to provide 12 mp images :)

DP Review used a camera with firmware Version .65 while Imaging Resource test camera has .58 so I suggest you wait for the final production firmware before posting any further conclusion about the high ISO...

We know that it does not help!
How often did you see wonders with final firmware?
Sony again shoot over the top!

You're not living up to your username at all, are you?

I have to face the facts!
I do not see any reason to upgrade!
Sony should work on better DR and WB!
I am happy with a55, so what is the benefit of a77 for me?
Body/EVF/LCD only?

Should there be no benefit of upgrading, then don't upgrade and don't complaint. If you're happy with a55, then a77 definitely not for you.

I 100% agree, give me a 12MP A77 equivalent with excellent high ISO and I would be very happy.

I repeat my question: when the A77 is set to 12MP, is the information of the other 12MP lost or used to get better high ISO quality ?

Generally the sensor just gets cropped, meaning you would use only a small part of the sensor for 12Mp.

Cropping an image to me means that part of the subject is cut off. That is not the case: you get exactly the same subject but in lower resolution. I guess you mean that 50% of the pixels is not used. Or rather: the information is not used.

With the A700 one can set the camera to M (6 MP instead of 12) and to RAW+JPG. In that case you get a 6MP JPG but still a 12MP RAW. So the sensor does not seem to be "cropped", but half of the information seems to be discarded when converting to JPG.

Does that make sense ?

By the way the A55 disables lower resolution when using RAW+JPG.

I don't think crop is the right word. In my words, downsizing is merging pixels to produce less pixels count, like merge 4 pixel into just 1.
