Went to the shop yesterday to check out a used D1x and noticed that they had lowered the prices on the D100. So it looks like Nikon is getting ready to release something in the next 3 months or so.

Could also be because new D100s are flying out of the shops like lemmings in the nutcase season. What price did you see the 2nd hand D1x for and where? New D100s can be had for Y196,000-Y218,000 body price.

Cheers

The mint D1x was 318,000(2 batteries/charger and AC) , how much are they down there. I would really like a D1x but my wife would probably shoot me.I am considering an older D1 but none for sale. Have you seen any reasonable ones?

I will probably trade in my Contax G1 and lenses but am afraid to see how much they offer me.

HI Robert

I plan to pop into Map Camera in Shinjuku today to look for a 2nd hand zoom lens for my D100, I'll have a look and see what's in.

I don't think your wife will shoot you, but if she's like my girlfriend, she might superglue your thumbs up for a week :)

Thanks.
If you happen to see a Fuji S1 at less than Y100.000 , I'll use that as a spare.

The super glue on the thumbs is manageable , it's when she starts with other parts that can get painful.

What was the price on the D100 before and what is it now? Also, do you happen to roughly know what the yen > $ conversion is, or where I can find it?

It dropped from the posted price of 228,000 to 218,000. That is the selling price not the List.

I am not in Tokyo , so the prices here are higher than what can be found in the discount shops.

Just got back from Map and he has D1x new for 449,800, and second hand for 338,000 (1 in stock). He's also got used Fuji S1 and I think an S2, but sorry, didn't check the prices. There's 1 used D1 for 196,000. All with 6 month, no quibble Japan only warranty plus the remaining manufacturers version. Used digicams are still quite hard to find here, but Map do fair trade-ins, so there'll be plenty coming through. 2 minutes walk away is the Yodabashi 'discount' emporium, but it's markedly more expensive there, and they are no too nice to deal with sometimes. I just picked up a used Nikon 80-200 F4.5 for 25,000, seems quite nice.

It's not really helpful to compare Japan prices with the likes of B&H or other US-based resellers, as they won't ship outside the US, we are stuck with what we can get here.

As soon as it stops raining, I'll go and take some more pics.

Brrrrr, time for a cup of tea.

Cheers all

Noodle
Thanks!!

That is a good price for a new D1x but the cheapest price thru an internet retailer is 399,800. I'll have to give Map a phone call and check about the S1 and D1 , see if I can waggle a deal.

I just picked up a used 75-150 thru Yahoo for Y8500 .

I'll be sending the ais lenses to the USA get chips installed to allow metering. I have 10 lenses for the D1 , I just need the camera now.
Is your new Zoom ais or AF ?
Are you going to have a chip installed in your new lens to allow it to meter?

HI Robert

Good luck with the haggling, let me know how you get on. My lens is actually an AF 70-300 5.6 ED, as far as I know, that allows the full matrix metering - am I right? I'm new to Nikon. It's not too fast, but with the ISO choices on the D100, it should do me for now as I can't afford the bigger lenses.

Cheers for now.
