Again from SAR, with SR5, so it must be true (?):

1) Only limited with 500 shots when shooting in LCD mode! If you use the built-in viewfinder you will be able to take many more pictures!

2) On the A65 and A77 you can enable or disable the automatic lens correction (Vignetting, Chromatic Aberration and more).

3) It has AF fine tuning! Over 30 lenses can be “stored”.

4) With multiframe you can go up to 25.600 ISO

5) Time lag to take a picture is only 0,02 sec!

6) AF is extremely fast and more accurate than Nikon and Canon cameras. No data yet but they made some testing that do confirm that!

If number 2 is true, I'd like to see a distortion correction for very wide angle lenses.

Qualifying all my responses with "If true..."

That is good since I mostly use the EVF of my wife's A55. It is great to have an articulating screen but for "normal" shots I prefer the standard VF approach.

I am glad to see lens correction added. This should be in all Sony DSLR/T IMO.
3) It has AF fine tuning! Over 30 lenses can be “stored”.
It's about time.
4) With multiframe you can go up to 25.600 ISO
Nice feature
5) Time lag to take a picture is only 0,02 sec!
Nice - hopefully the OLED EVF can keep up.

I hope it is true but a lot depends on how you measure things. The A700 can AF very quickly and accurately in many situations. In fact it was faster than the corresponding Canon/Nikon in static AF IIRC. The problem with Sony has always been the dynamic focusing - specifically focus tracking. The SLTs seem to have improved this significantly and hopefully the A77 will continue the trend.

That's actually quite good!

Handy. I hope the RAW processing software will allow off-brand lens profiles as well.

Awesome!

I wonder what the ISO noise profile will be for this. Mind you, it will make handheld ultra high ISO shooting a bit tricky.
5) Time lag to take a picture is only 0,02 sec!
I can't blink that fast ;)
6) AF is extremely fast and more accurate than Nikon and Canon cameras. No data yet but they made some testing that do confirm that!
Definitely interesting. If true, this will make the A77 a real groundbreaker - imagine: it focuses and shoots faster than a Canon 1D at one third the price.

IF those rumored specs are true I see nothing good about that battery life rating, especailly when compared to other Alpha cameras that double that rating.

It's a downgrade in battery life, pure and simple. Lets not make it out to be a glorious thing.

This answers my two concerns so well I feel the money leaving my pocket already, and I won't need to buy spare batteries. Now my only question is to pre-order or wait for the reviews.

Probably pre-order so I won't need to wait until after the New Year to get one, it will probably sell out the first week.

As a newbie, what exactly are 2 and 3 and how do they work?

I think most people have resigned themselves to the fact that the SLT design will have a poorer battery life than the SLR. It certainly uses more power and unless there is a new much higher capacity battery available it won't equal the SLR's number of shots. But it really doesn't have to IMO - as long as it lasts long enough to be able to get you between charges that will likely be good enough for most people.

It isn't "Good news" to me. Which really is the crux of my point.

Good news to me would be that it matches or exceeds current Alpha cameras.

Honestly the less I have to charge a battery the better, either way its a bit of a downer- good "enough" or not.

An odd predicament here is that turning the camera off between shots to save battery life will apparently cause the built in GPS unit to use the last stored location which may or may not be your current location. So we're choosing between convenience and accurate EXIF information.

I'd like to never change a battery again as ling as I live, but it's really not that big of a deal is it? Really? I think I'll leave the camera turned on and suffer with only 500+ shots before I take a minute to swap batteries.
