I can charge teh LI50B (Stylus Tough 8010) from USB port using the camera

I can charge it with an external charger from AC of DC 12v

Can i charge it with an external charger from USB port? I cannot find
any charger for that.

I Need to charge the battery from a solar pannel with a USB port when
on wilderness canor trip.

I don't get your question. In paragraph 1 you say you can charge from a USB port, in paragraph 3 you say you can't.

There is an external Olympus charger for the battery on its own, if that is what you actually mean. Look for 'Accessories' on Olympus web pages.

Thanks. Exactly what i was looking for. ANd the ebay.ca one is very small,
perfect for canoe trips.

Somehow when i googled i found onty charger fer by AC or 12v, not USB.
Googling with only "li50B USB" gave results.

Thanks again.

Those are solar chargers that provide power to a USB port. I can easlly find this.
I was looking for the device that charge the Olympus LI-50B from the USB
to combined with a solar charger. I found what i need from a previous answer
and ordered from a-bay. I will now look at the solar charger you recommend and
order the best suited one for canoe trip (rugged, light and powerful enough for
charging on a partially cloudy day).

Last week, the Stylus Tough 8010 prooved to have been a good buy for
canoe trips.

Thanks to all that provided information.

I found what i needed.

A Small adapter charge the LI-50B ibattery from a USB port but you need
to alingn 2 pins to the battery connector, the battery can be put upside down
(not charging) and it is not held firmly. It came from Hong Kong.
very small though. Good for travelling light. It was referred from this forum.

I found another one from E-Bay. It came from germany, costed $22.48 Canadian

with taxes, shipping included. It is like the numerous 12v chargers but it comes
with an adapter that converts the USB 5v into 12v used by the charger.
The Battery is held firmly in this one.

Here is the seller ref:
JustMore GmbH & Co. KG

All i need now is a Solar panel that feeds the USB 5v. This is very common.
I just have to find one that provide enough current for the charger and is
also light and compact to carry in my canoe-camping bagages.
