I've been less productive than usual this summer, but today I went for a hike up to a stream I like. A little tricky getting down to it and I almost fell on my rear. Once down, though, things were nice and I could use the tripod and polarizer for some shots in the 1 to 1.5 second range, long enough for me to get that blur look.

I tried just processing these in Lightroom and didn't like them so much. Then I went back to viewer, said Ah ha! and saved them as a tiff for a little further tweaking in Lightroom.

I took about forty or so shots using mirror lock-up...

My dog was quite good, didn't get in the way of the shots, and even posed for one of her own next to the two sticks she had found...

These were shot with the E5, 12-60 and a polarizer. F13 on the top one, and F10 on the middle.

I love the light in these - and I particularly like the first one.

While Utah has a great deal of just about every other type of color/environs it is really hard to find a heavily mossed stream like that here. I love the greens.

Cheers.

Was it a cloudy day, or at least out of direct sunlight?

Looks like the dynamic range did fine here.

1. Use of light (and also darkness)
2. Lush colours
3. The blurred water has just the right look

And I wonder about your remark pertaining to Viewer : what exactly (if you can pinpoint it), did Viewer bring the the images that another raw converter was unable to inject? (I wonder because I never use Viewer, only Lightroom, thus ACR.)

It seems you inactivity did not impede your artistic capabilities. In the last one, it looks like the dog is staring at a moss covered cat. Very nice looking dog BTW.

Thanks. Sometimes in the summer, especially on cloudy days, it feels like green is the only color we have. Though there is a little orange from the dead needles that fell off one of the downed trees...

Thanks, yes, a cloudy day, which I need to slow down the shutter speed and keep out hot spots. The sun kept threatening to come out, actually. But big trees, clouds and a polarizer seem to be just about right.

Thanks Roel. What I find is that sometimes Viewer seems to come out with just the right look to the greens (in natural mode) and look that is hard for me to duplicate in Lightroom. If I sat down for a long time and worked on duplicating it I likely could. I mentioned before that I use both Lightroom and Viewer, and this was just one of those cases where it seemed better to go with Viewer first.

Thanks Charlene. Perhaps she did think it was a cat, but I think what she really wanted was for me to throw one of those sticks. Water to her means stick tossing.
