Just intalled Lion and my Spyder Elite software dissappeared

It depended on some PPC code so lion killed it. Back to SL or wait for Datacolor to fix or ColorEyes Display Pro works just fine. Take you pic of options. :)

(the other third party softwares may work as well I haven't tested those)

No projects at the moment so will wait for datacolor to fix, thanks

hmm... well Tech department assured me all of spyder3 was compatible with lion.

anyways, I got a reply from their department about my concern today. Lets see if we can figure it out.

I should clarify that the software does calibrate the monitor. What seems to not work well with Lion is the Light monitoring.

ColorEyes says not to install Lion until all the bugs are worked out of Lion. They recommend that users wait and not jump into new operating systems where the users are depending upon the system for their livelihood. So far the only report of not working on the ColorEyes forum is that the Apple drivers for Apple displays don't work. As much as the Lion creates an itch, try not to scratch it until the first update. If you have to get a new computer then that's a bummer.

The release of Lion was not done in a closet. Color Eyes has had plenty of time prepare, same with other software developers. They are using a lame drag your feet approach that I have no respect for. Shameful way to treat you customers. I was considering purchasing from them until now.

Those that believe they can, CAN, because they BELIEVE!

They seem appropriately concerned in my email. Hope the solution comes fast.

I am not currently working on any projects so I can wait.

oh well

Spyder 2 or Spyder 3? Spyder 2 won't work ever. The software was PPC based and the hardware is now considered old and outdated so I don't think Datacolor will be spending any money updating its software.

I just installed Spyder 3 Elite under Lion and it works fine.

Spyder elite utility does not work under Lion.

it is just an application that monitors the room lighting, not completely necessary but a nice addition.

It does in fact work but you have to manually adust the background light on the IMac or display.

Look in your menu bar. See the Spyder3 icon? It is there in 10.6, not in 10.7. Next, go to system preferences -> Users and Groups the click on the startup items, tab. You'll see that Spyder3 Utility is in the list , but with a slashed NO symbol over the icon. It does not run under Lion.

Wrong again!

Marco,

I think Bach is confused. My App Log window looks like his but still... Spyderutility does not work with Lion. I contacted Datacolor and they said they are working on an update.

I'm running 4.02 and while I have to adjust the brightness manually it works ok, it does provide the profile information and assign the profile to the moitor. I have also been in contact with Datacolor and they say that if you are having problems that you can reinstall but you will still have to adjust your brightness through the display preferences.

FWIW There is a version of Spyder3Utility that does work with Lion. I didn't originally grab it from the data color site because it had a date older than the one I installed. Foolish me. The date was older (Nov '10, I think) but the version was newer.

Info says the one that works is version 1.1.10-1. The one that didn't work was 1.1.9.
