I ordered a Gariz half case direct from the Korean company. It arrived in time for a week-long trip. Even with a makeshift strap from an old camera bag, worn bandolier style, it worked great. My camera hangs out of the way by my hip, ready to swing up quickly to shoot.

Yesterday I received the matching "gun shot" sling strap that I bought separately on ebay. I used my case with this strap for the first time today when I went downtown to meet some friends. This strap makes a fine case even better.

Gariz cases and straps are now available from several Korean and Hong Kong ebay sellers. Highly recommended!

As far as I know, Gariz only makes one "gun Shot" strap. This is the ebay listing I ordered mine from:

The X100 isn't mentioned, but on the Gariz website, XA-CHLSH is the model no. they show on their X100 case page. In any case, this strap works perfectly for me.

I loved Thailand too when I was there 2 years ago!

I think I would be too nervous that the clip would come open and my X100 would fall.
Make a tight fist and see how much your thumb and index finger overlap. The 2 legs of the clip wrap the around D-ring like that and a strong spring holds the clip closed. The clip is at least as secure as Fuji's triangular split rings. I'm impressed with the quality of these Gariz products.

Hi Fred,

That case looks great and very practical. I also think its not overpriced considering the apparent build quality, you did a good choice.

Does it swivel as well as a Black Rapid strap?
It has a similar frictionless swivel.
Hope that clip has plenty of bite and stays firm.
It opens like a scissors instead of having a screw collar like Black Rapid's clip, but a strong spring keeps it from opening by accident.

I like the look of the case, and I live in the GTA as well. How much was duty, and how long did it take to arrive? Was duty payable upon receipt through Canada Post? It seems different every time something comes from overseas.

I don't remember if I paid any duty on the case. There wasn't any on the strap. Customs is inconsistent about charging for imports. I would have paid duty to the mailman or at my neighbourhood Canada Post outlet as usual.

Gariz wasn't selling the case outside Asia when I first emailed their website in early June. A Gariz official replied that it was sold out due to high demand in the Far East. Later he told me it was in stock and to order through him, which I did. Once he shipped my case, it came within a week. The strap, which I bought from a Hong Kong ebay seller, took about 10 days to arrive.

If you want to see my first snaps with my X100 in this case, check my post "X100 in Quebec City." My Fuji doesn't go anywhere now without its Gariz gear.

Thanks for the info. I ordered both the case and the strap on your recommendation, so now it's just the waiting...

I had checked out your other thread with pics. Nice to see Quebec City in pictures. People post pictures of Montreal all the time, but not usually Quebec City. Vive la Belle Province!

I hope you'll like the Gariz case as much as I do and get it soon. When you do, I hope you will post your review here.

Thanks for the kind words about my Quebec City snaps. We had a great time there, including seeing the Moulin a Images, which I tried to photograph, but there wasn't enough light to get usable images.

A la prochaine ....
