With the proliferation of HDSLR shooting, and even DPreview now covering news of HDSLR accessories, is it time we had an HDSLR forum?

As a pro earning all his income with stills and film cameras, it would be nice not to have to stray away from the site..

If so, can it be not split into brands?

and WHY? It's not like we are not already split up into countless forums, now you want more for each brand/model for just video. Seems to me that video can already be covered quite nicely within the existing forums.

But if dpreview does split out video, then lets also split out subjects like architecture, landscape, portraits, weddings, glamour, etc, etc, etc.

Where would you stop?

I think it would be a good idea to have an hdslr forum not specific to camera brand. I am a nikon shooter but why would I want to limit myself to input and ideas from only Nikon users? I am trying to research hdslr accessories and would be nice to learn what others have already figured out:)

HDSLR is just an SLR with HD video right? Every DSLR introduced in the last 12-18 months and on has video. It's a bit like asking for an AF DSLR forum, lol. I agree with the other replies that having brand-specific forums is enough.

The p in dpreview stands for photography, it´s not a v for videography.

I agree, and, for one, hope it stays that way.

I should think that photography is photography, whether it is capturing still or moving images, though in the latter case it is a series of still images.

Morover, with the unabated profileration of DSLR users indulging in video, it is understandable that forum discussions pertaining to it will grow accordingly.

But I'd prefer there to be a separate and generic "Video" forum for a start, rather than taking a big leap for it to be brand-specific at this time.

Hope it's worth 2 cents.

Wow . . .

I didn't realize there were film cameras with built-in HDR capabilities.

Eh???

HDSLR? As in video. film (in my case)movie and stills,

And incidentally (if not relevant to this thread) I would say film can indeed be HDR- the neg often captures more than can be easily printed.

Too many don't even know or use Raw still.

"I can't shoot at 1,346,000 ISO clean, dude. WHY?!"

Not hardly. Aren't there any video forums on the web?

Why start one up? I already know where the largest collection of HDSLR video forum threads is... :)

EDIT - YIKES! I didn't notice this thread was ancient... was doing a google search and this came to the top.
