Please tell me what you think. Only the last picture had PP.

I must say the 1600 ISO pictures are amazing, it surpised me to look over at the details and see the 1600 number pop up. I was thinking ISO 400 or maybe 800 ISO.

Nice work.

Thanks a lot. I'm still no pro but I'm working my way up thank you for the kind words.

First 3 squirrels are pretty nice. Last two squirrels are good shots but suffer from the dread "centered subject" syndrom. Check out rule of thirds--while not a hard and fast rule it will improve the look of most shots.

First bird shot is ruined by background with runners on the right. Maybe some cropping would help but bird is small and in center so I'm not seeing a real great solution. Second bird looks a little soft and low angle with centered composition really don't work.

First three shots don't work for me, background too busy. #4 suffer from subject underexposure and busy background. The last B&W too contrasty to my taste. I like the middle three, and would try vertical crop (bird) and lift shadow a bit. Did you use Tamron 70-300 USD? Image quality seem pretty good.

Here is a quick PP sample:

That worked a lot better than I expected. I qualify my criticism with this crop with, "posted shot needs verticle crop" oh yea, that's what you just demonstrated!

Rule of thirds is very important and should be followed in most circumstances. That is why it is called a rule and not a suggestion. ;). I know this sounds hard and it is not meant to be hard, it is so basic to completion. If you shoot with center focus ( I do) than apply the rule when cropping. When shooting sports the rule is not as important as the need to get closer to the subject.

Get close
Keep it simple. Blur the back ground or use a simple back ground
Tell a story

Much has changed in the 50 years I have been shooting but composition hasn't and it will not in the future. Look at the old paintings from the great artist.

I liked your photos and like many of the photos I take they can be improved In PP.

Thanks for all the advice I'll keep it in mind next time I go out shooting. And I see what you mean about the cropping it did make a big difference.
