1. quiet shutter (at least 50% quieter than current NEX)
2. high sync flash like Fuji X100
3. Fuji X100 size or smaller

AF, LCD, high ISO....I don't care 'cause it can't be worse than the current NEX.

  • Quiet shutter
  • Screen density higher than 300 dots per inch
  • Built-in or accessory EVF
I'm probably not buying it anyway, but it would be awesome to see that.

1. Fast AF (Panasonic-esque)
2. EVF option (either built in or nex shoe mounted)
3. AEL button

Ability to enter manual lens information so their data can be included in EXIF.

Better flash control.

Flash remote firing, a real hot shoe, or, at least, a PC connection (flash PC, not computer PC).

Reprogrammable Movie button.

HDR supports RAW + JPEG.

Shutter closes when camera is off or lens is removed with camera on.

More manual controls.

In body stabilization. For my Zuikos and other MF lenses.

cheap(er) than what is listed on rumor site ($1200 w/ kit lens)

Kinda makes you wonder what features are being integrated into the camera for it to cost $1200. The A77 is rumored to be $1000 with kit lens. Maybe Sony has something interesting up their sleeve?

actually I think the rumored $1000 price tag is body only for a77

Accessory EVF instead of built-in, which is backwards compatible with the NEX3 & 5.
Builtin only , or no sale for me. Fortunately the rumors point to it being builtin. If not, then I buy into the first system to produce a camera with a builtin EVF. For me, builtin is an absolute must have.

Also, there is zero evidence that the NEX-3/5 can support video out through the accessory connector. In fact, there is mounting evidence that it cannot.

Oh yes, please!
2. high sync flash like Fuji X100
Good, but not essential (to me)
3. Fuji X100 size or smaller
About GF1 size would be near perfect.

4. No (as in zero) overheating issues, especially when shooting video.

Now just dreaming... 2K and 4K HD video with very high bitrate options, and (dream, dream, dream) raw format video at all resolutions.

Ok, what century is Scarlet supposed to ship?

In sonyalpharumors there is a new rumor image of nex 7 with zeiss 24/1.8: viewfinder and a lot of hardware buttons...

in-body stabilization, so I can get the most from my Canon 55mm f/1.2 FL in low light...or using my cheap A-mount 75-300mm =)

Hope, they're still committed to offer more manual controls...although I don't have problems with my little NEX-5 (I enjoy the simple design...kind of sexy XD)

One more thing could be...don't make it small as the NEX-C3...like the NEX-5 it's just fine..if it's bigger, fine, because that will make up for the space required by the new sensor and new functions...

Actually, all I want is a camera that I can use (VF or EVF, with real flash capability) with my manual focus lenses and macro bellows, preferably sold as a body only.

The rumored image of the NEX appears to have what I need, but I'll just have to wait and see the reality.

1. Some way to trigger flash without needing use the onboard flash, and with a properly bright LCD/EVF display
2. Exposure metering linked to the position of the flexible focus spot, if used
3. Multilingual interface available on all models

4. A 24mpixel sensor with roughly the same or better noise/DR/color characteristics as the current NEXs

Are there any IS systems that are done entirely in firmware? The ones I've read about are electromechanical ... actually moving a lens or sensor to compensate for camera shake. I would think an in-body system like this would require more room between mount and sensor and change the registration distance of the mount. I.e. not an option.

Hmm... I read around a bit, and it looks like a sensor movement based IS system might work, depending on how much "extra" illumination E-mount lenses provide around the edges of the sensor. It would be fine for FF lenses on NEX, since they have lots of extra illumination, but that's not really Sony's goal, I don't think.

How would that work with the 18-55 kit lens? Would you get two IS systems working together, or fighting each other?
